Believing in God requires more courage . simply because every religion requires self-discipline and thats the hardest thing to do.
Most ppl dont believe in God out of stubborness i guess ... and that doesnt require any courage .. i think its easier for them as they have no set of rules to follow .. they can change lanes anytime they want .. cause for them the sin-punishment equation doesnt work . For them there is no law that can not be broken.
For believers thats not the case .. at the end of the day they know that they have to own up their actions sooner or later AND that takes courage ! When you are a believer .. you take responsibility of carrying out Gods will and follow his route.. which all believers know is hard route to follow ... so i think believers are the ppl who are more courageous.

Objectively I think it's more courageous not to believe in God. Think about it, there's no one to rely on, or to turn to when there is no one else in this world to turn to. God is a safety net when all else fails. It's nice to know that you're never alone, even when you feel the most lonely. In addition, death isn't as scary because you know what is waiting for you when you cross over. Heaven and eternal happiness--isn't that a comfort?
Alternatively, an Atheist will have no one else to turn to. They will have only themselves, and no one else if that fails. It takes a lot of courage to face things alone. But an Atheist doesn't see it as courageous, they see it as practical.
The God-believers here have a funny definintion of what courageous is. Christians persecuted?! Yeah, thousands of years ago, but now the shoe is on the other foot!

Freud thought that belief in God was just wish-fulfilment; that humans created something that would make them feel safer. So, from that point of view, it takes much more courage to not believe in God.

It takes more courage to believe in God. God will supply us with the courage we need though. Christians have always been persecuted by the world for believing in God. The early Christians died horrible deaths for what they believed. www.equip.org

It depends on whether you find the thought of the existence of a god frightening or placating.
I would say it takes courage to take a position based on what you think to be true that doesn't have you coming out on top, whichever position it is. It's easy to pick a position that strokes your ego.

It takes more courage to believe in God. You have to be brave to fight against the devil. It takes nothing to give into that stuff. Take the Columbine shooting. (Sorry if Im offending anybody) Rachel Scott and Cassie Bernall and other people were asked if they believed in god with guns to their Heads. If they answered yes...u know what would happen. They knew not to deny God so they were brave and said yes. The consequences were fatal but they will be admired for being so brave forever. But also u can trust him and know that you'll be safe in his hands

It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in whether it is in God, or in NO-God. Whether it is FOR or against religion. If you have something in your heart that you believe in you should stand up for it no-matter what the people say and do to you.

I'd say not believing. Athiests are pretty unpopular in the religious community, so it's just like saying "you 7 billion people are wrong."
Also, we're able to face our own mortality. We don't get to say "Oh, I won't die. My soul lives on forever." and keep on living a lie. We must face the fact that death is the end.
