I've suffered from depression and anxiety related problems for about 12 years. I too had tried everything, every anti-depressant cocktail you can imagine. I have been hospitalized 2 times and I have had ECT. When I do find a combination that works, it only works for about 6 months to a year. I build up a tolerance, so I have to keep changing my meds. ECT wiped out my immediate short term memory and a good portion of my long term memory. I don't remember most of my kids childhoods, that in itself is enough to cause depression. Currently I am on Vivactil (an older anti-depressant), trazedone, xanax and deseryl. It's been working for about 7 months so far. Don't give up keep try, combining meds has worked for me. Good luck

I am. I've been on many, some in combinations, and I've never really felt much of an impact from any of them. I sometimes wonder if maybe ALL antidepressants are just placebo(s)? I think the real answer may be to make your reality as happy as possible - Get rid of baggage; organize or throw away all irrelevant paper; clear up old bills; clean out the refrigerator; throw away anything dirty, anything you'll never wear again, anything that's been pissed on by a cat; slowly remove all of the sh!t that has slowly built up and weighed you down. Have a metaphorical fire in your life - pick the few best things in your life, physically and "spiritually," and forget the rest.

Ive been on a number of anti depressants some worked some didnt. It depends on if its just depression, or if its something else. I was diagnosed with depression first. Then two years later they diagnosed me bipolar. But Ive been on Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil, Zoloft, and so on. The one that worked the best for me was for both depression and Bipolar disorder and it was called Lexapro. Prozac was the worst. You can get worse on that stuff. Well If you do decide to get pills. Remember that pills arent a solid cure for it you must try to get yourself into a better environment. Like what in the last 15 years has kept you being depressed. and if you can try to avoid that. Just take care of yourself. Start exercising, read a good book. set a goal for each week . and just have fun. Good Luck, and Take Care

For a few of us, eating bean sprouts and doing sit-ups has little to no effect.
Some of us need the Big Guns: combination drug therapy.
I've had Clinical Depression with features of OCD for 26 years; what works for me has changed over time, as it does for most patients. Right now I'm taking a combination of two anti-depressants and a prescription sleep aid (yep!), which keeps me stable, and keeps my emotional responses normal. It's a great feeling.
You might want to be evaluated by someone new; clearly, your present psychiatrist isn't getting the job done.
Good luck, friend.
