Praying is talking to air. There is nothing at the other end.
Even if there was a god, praying makes no sense. You are either asking that god to change his perfect plan on your behalf or asking him to do what you would have done anyway.
Studies have shown that praying doesn't give any result.
Nothing fails like prayer.

Some may say that prayer is a form of meditation, but essentially, it is an attempt to communicate with a supreme being. Talking to God.
In a Christian sense, some just speak to God, no formal salutations, others like to make it more formal, starting with "Dear Lord..." and ending with "Amen," or using the Lord's Prayer, or A.C.T.S (Adoration, or praise, Confession, saying you're sorry, Thanksgiving, and Supplication, or asking for what you need). Any way to do it is fine. The best part of praying is making it a conversation...you talk to God, then he talks to you. Maybe not in words, but being aware of your surroundings and seeing God in everyday life, acknowledging the good as a result of Him. Some prayers will go unanswered, and that is part of his plan. Just trust.

Yep, all of the above. I ask that he show me the sin in my life, so I can repent of it. I ask for guidance in everything. I ask for help with everyday stuff, and God does answer prayer. I thank him for all the wonderful blessings he's given me, and ask him to help all the unsaved people out there to come to the knowledge of him.

All of the above.
In its most basic form, prayer is a conversation with God. It can include giving thanks, asking for help/strength, etc, praise, repentence. The hardest part of prayer is learning to be silent and listen to God's response. (And no, I'm not talking about little voices in your head.)

For those who are of The Church we just talk to him like you would to your best friend. We open the converstaion with praise and thanks and do ask for forgivness for those sinns that we have commited since we last spoke to him...but then it is just what ever is on the mind and needing to be talked about.

Usually it's to keep my car or scooter from breaking down, and other such mundane items.
When I really pray, I just hang with Him.
