I received an e-mail about this and I find it hard to believe. If it is true than all I can say is censorship is wrong. I would tell the religious fanatics who complain about the sex and violence on TV the exact same thing I want to say to the atheists. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE SOMETHING ON TV THAN DO NOT WATCH IT. You have many other channels to watch and guess what, an on and off button. How dare anyone tell me what I can watch and what is not appropriate!

Hey don't insult me. I just wanted to know if it was true. I believe to each his own.

Hey I know it wasn't petitioned by Madelyn Murray Ohare. I live in San Antonio.

I also agree with not wanting my child to watch the majority of religious stuff on TV. They mostly try to tell us who is not going to heaven, spreading hate and bigotry. Like I said, I am in San Antonio and John Hagee is one of the worst. He preaches bigotry and then goes home to a million dollar home.

No.

Quoted on snopes.com, a quote by the FCC:

The Commission appreciates the time taken by these individuals to make their feelings known, however, the vast majority of these letters are not directed to a resolution of the issues raised by the petition, as most are based on an incorrect understanding of the nature of the relief petitioners seek. Many of them are form letters that are premised on the mistaken view that the petition was filed by Madalyn Murray O'Hare, when such was not the case. In addition, the vast majority of letters urge us to reject what they understand to be the proposal to ban the broadcast of all religious programs (including church services) from the air. However, no such proposal was advanced by the petitioners, nor was it raised by the Commission.

Don't sweat it.

Anybody playing the religion scam is a fraud today.

Very few of the real thing.

Besides. If they did? It's only a question of time before they start coming after atheists. Personally, I'd like to see the religion/spirituality category liquidated, and the ' In God We Trust ' off anything.

These people believe in evil, conspiracy, and collusion. Generally, I look at everybody and think; you know what your future shapes up to, so do you really wanna add a little more firewood to it? No problem for me.

Its not true. Actually, I find some of those TBN nutjobs some of the most interesting shows on television. Especially Way of the Master, John Hagee, and Jack Van Impe.

Nothing I ever heard of. Don't make the mistake of thinking of atheists as a cohesive group. We don't go to bizzaro-church or have an anti-pope to tell us how we should all feel about things. About the only time you can say "Atheists are (doing whatever)" is in the sentence "Atheists are not believing in god"

Mostly the only reason we non-Christians care if Church services are on tv is because that makes less air time for Law & Order. I agree: you don't want to watch it, don't. I never do. :-)

I would have to believe that if anyone is trying to do that, they're doing it to make a point. (point being: if you don't like it don't watch it).
I don't see why the christian channels would bother an atheist, there is plenty of non-religious programming on TV.

I know the one saying Dr. Dobson wants you to sign it is wrong but I haven't heard anything about other groups spreading the word. I agree with your logic. If you don't like what's on don't watch it. If you don't want your kids to watch it then block it.

Thank goodness! I hate all the stupid religious crap on TV; it is a waste of the public's airwaves and definitely a violation of the separation of church and state. The day all religion disappears from TV, I'm going to throw a big party!! Whoo hoo!

I've already blocked all the religious programming off my TV so my kids won't become polluted by it.

No, athiests are usually freedom-loving secular liberal humanists and don't believe in censorship.

You probably got some stupid chain email. Break that chain.

I've never heard of such a thing, although I think it is a great idea.

Free speech laws prevent it's removal.
