You want to get it warm using gentle heat so you don't cook it any further. Intense heat will squeeze more water out of the protein matrix in the meat, making it dry and chewy. So if you have a thick steak and throw it on a hot skillet, the outside will turn to leather by the time the inside is warm.

Instead, pull the steak out of the fridge and let it warm to room temp on it's own (this is called tempering the meat). Then you are half-way there with no heat. Next, slice the steak thinly, and put it in a little foil envelope. Pop it in a 350 degree oven and get it warm enough to eat. A little butter in there will also protect it, and taste deleicious.

In any case temper the meat and slice it, and you can get it hot without cooking it.

I use a double boiler and lay the steak in top of boiler and let it heat up for about 3 or 4 minutes after the water has started to boilmake sure to cover with lid. Then I put it in a skillet for a minute and I'm good to go. It's not tough and overly done and usually keeps it from drying out.

I just had a great steak sandwich the other day using leftover steak. I cut a loaf of bread lengthwise, nice crusty stuff like an Italian is good. I put romaine lettuce, Marie's Blue Cheese Salad Dressing, steak and roasted red peppers. It is really yummy!

In my opinion I change it up like this: Into a hot frying pan place enough olive oil to cover the bottom and no more...then saute 1 minced garlic clove and 1 sliced onion, 1 sliced green bell pepper and a cup of sliced mushrooms. While this is sauteing, slice the steak into thin pieces and add to the frying pan with the veggies. Stir quickly until the steak is heated through....serve with sliced tomatoes and toasted french bread. ENJOY....PS you can add a few shots of Worcestershire sauce or A-1 for added flavor depending on how you first seasoned the steak.

Yeah, put it in the oven on 300 for about 10 minutes. Might have to put a little water on it to keep it from drying out. Either that or make a sandwich out of it.

I have a wonderful steamer that works great for all leftovers. Adds just enough moisture and doesn't ruin the flavor.

I concur with the No answer. My steak usually tastes good though. Try slicing it thin and putting it on toasted bread like a sandwhich. Mmmm good.

I'm with Just4Fun. Put back on the grill, but wrap in foil first so you don't lose anymore of the moisture in the meat.

You can heat it up in the microwave, just put some worchestershire sauce on it first to keep it moist.
