And now it is just kind of hangin around my backyard. I have a dog, and I dont want her to get any illness from the bird. I know it isnt a pigeon. I have called animal control where I live in Henderson (its by Las Vegas) and they dont have any answers and connot pick it up because it is not a domestic animal. Any ideas on who I can contact to pick up the bird?????? It is still alive, and I think its hurt, but I cannot approach it.

Any ideas would help.

Great answers so far....except
OK, keep in mind, my dog has to go outside to pee and poo, so not letting her out is not an option. She leaves the bird alone, but if she were to sniff it or try to "help" the bird I dont want her to get anything.

your dog is not going to get anything from the bird...I would be more worried about your dog killing it. If birds were as infectious as most people think we would all be dead! It may be stunned and needs to rest a while before it can fly again. You can put it in a box and let it recoop and see if it is able to fly after it has time to rest. Or call a local wildlife rehab in your area and they can care for it until it is ready to go or keep it if it is unreleaseable.

Unless you have an animal rescue organization or know of a person that does animal rescue type activities.... it's sounds cold but you may either want to put it down or just leave it alone.

Try calling these people and see if they know any animal rescue people in your area.

Your dog will not catch anything from a bird. Let nature take its course. The bird will either find somewhere to go and die if it is fatally hurt or it will go away on it's own.
