I would have to say no. It will be a blow to his self esteem and independence. I believe that if you allow a child (at any age) to wear a diaper or pull-up, it gives them permission to be lazy. If your son wets the bed only on occasion, then he should not wear a diaper nightly. My suggestion is to make sure that he uses the bathroom right before bedtime, and no drinks an hour before bedtime (even if he is "dying" of thirst). When you check on him before you go to bed, if he stirs a bit and does not appear to be sound asleep, rouse him a little and ask him if he needs to pee. Even if he says, no, respond with, "Are you sure?", and wait to hear his second response. If he wakes you in the middle of the night to tell you he wet the bed, get up and have him help you change the sheets. Do not make it easy for him to change beds and just go back to sleep. Even if YOU don't want to get up to do it. Moan and groan and go do it together anyways. The disturbance and inconvenience will be retained in his memory and before long, and he will get up at night if he needs to go just to avoid the issue. Good luck!

Bed wetting at age seven is normal that is why they make 'good-nights' and such. I assume that is what you mean by a diaper. They even have ones now that get cold so the child will wake up and know what has happened. And at least this way you don't have to worry about sheets or the mattress. Let your son know that it IS normal for some boys his age so he doesn't have to feel humiliated. My 6 yr old girl has never had a problem with bed wetting but her best friend is 7 and she does. We have raised our daughter to be kind and understanding so she doesn't make fun or say anything cruel. They had a sleepover camp with Sparks (girlguides) and the pullups let this 7 yr old attend with out the stress or worry of anyone finding out. I remember having my husbands nephew come to stay on a few occassions and he used to wet the bed aswell. We would wrap the mattress like a gift with a tarp and then put bed sheets over it or have him sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag. This was a good 10 yrs ago though. I'm sure it would have been much less stressful and embarrassing on him if he could have just put on a 'goodnight'.
The thing here people is he said his son wets the bed on "OCCASSION"You're leaving comments like he goes to bed and pees every night on purpose. Everyones bladder is different . I have had 2 children and 'dribble' sometimes when I sneeze. LOL. And you know what...that's normal too........TEE HEE HEE

Is in a diaper or a big kid pull-up like Good Nites (my almost 6 year old son wears those)? I think a diaper would be very demeaning to him and might undermine his confidence in making it through the night dry.
At age 7 he should be able to stay dry all night. You really should talk to your pediatrician about this to make sure that there is nothing physically wrong with him. There are lots of devices and medications that can help if there is a problem.

I personally would not put my 7 year old in diaper, he will grow out of the bed wetting stage. I think putting him in a diaper is only telling him that it is ok to wet the bed. I know all children have accidents but I wouldn't encourage it. But keep in mind you know your son better than anyone so you have to do what's best for him and what will work for him.

I was bedwetter until I was 10. My mother spent time searching(in the days before internet). I had been on ridilin but my mother worried about side effects from it and stopped the medication. Finally she found a device that worked. It was essentially 2 metal screens connected to a box, you put a pillowcase over the top screen and when that case got a few drops of liquid on it a buzzer sounded. When the buzzer woke me up I would go into the bathroom, splash water on my face to be sure I was fully awake and use the bathroom, change the pillowcase and drift back off to sleep. 2 months later I was accident free. Its a matter of training your son to wake up to the feeling of a full bladder. If you could find someting like what I had he would be able to enjoy things like camp or sleepovers that hes missing out on now.

First I advise you carry this as a lot as a well being care service, rigidity if not dealt with may bring about a value of issues as an adult. Or there is continuously the prospect he's jealous of the recent infant or purely is searching for interest and eating the breast milk enables him to placed himself on a similar element because the baby. both way this is something which could be discusses with an MD because it isn't generic. also breast feeding your 9 year previous provides him the conception he continues to be a touch one, enable him develop up and be a large brother! He would not take advantage of the milk like he once used to.

If a 70 year old can still wear a diaper, why not a 7 year old?

Bed wetting is very common. Yes, I would have him wear a pull-up. You may want to seek the advise of a pediatric doctor in case there is another reason for it. Dont make him feel bad about it.

I wouldnt use a diaper... i would use training pants or something. I would try to fix the problem though, not just cover it up. Dont let him drink anything for abut an hour and a half before bedtime, and make him go before he lays down. Good luck!

Yes it is...this is embarresing but I wet the bed until I was 9...yes 9....and it was horribly humilating....i would NEVER make my daughter do that....they have a system that snaps into the underwear and when it gets wet at all an alarm that straps to the jammies goes off and wakes up the child...
