Baptism is a crucial portion of salvation: Mark 16:16; a million Peter 3:20-21 it really is for the objective of forgiveness of sins: Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16 it really is executed through immersion (Baptize comes from a Greek be conscious meaning immerse.) It follows repentance: Acts 2:38 it really is executed in Jesus' call: Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:40 8; Acts 19:5; Acts 22:16; Matthew 28:19 (what's the call of the daddy, Son and Holy Ghost?); Acts 4:12; Col. 3:17 i'm an Apostolic Christian, gatita_63109

Well lets see- Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist right? And God said "This is my Son, with whom I am well pleased". Then later Peter was there when Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the light- for no man enters this Kingdom of Heaven without me" then later Jesus said to the Pharases and his Disciples "Those who have seen me have seen the father for the father and I are one". Then after the day of Pentacost (roughly some 120 days after the Ressurection) Jesus had said he wouls send The Comforter, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus's description makes it quite clear that the Holy Spirit is simply Jesus in spirit form. So, if you were to baptize someone and say "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit" you would be acknowlegeing all 3 different personaliites of the single God head.

The important thing is what is going on in your own heart. Baptism is nothing but a public announcement of your new birth...the only change that's going to take place is that you are gonna get wet. Any important changes are already taking place on the inside.
That being so, I don't see what difference it makes what is being said over you...if you're as excited as I was, you won't even notice, anyhow. The person dunking you could baptize you in the name of "Ronald McDonald", and it wouldn't make any difference to your relationship with the Lord. Remember, Jesus knows your heart.
(Of course, I am not advocating that anyone be baptized in the name of Ronald McDonald...just wanted to be sure that was understood)

More appropriately would have been to 'baptize in the way of Jesus'
I too was once a Catholic "baptized in the name of the father, and of the son,and the holy ghost"

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

No...Peter wasnt wrong when he baptize people in Jesus name....that is the message of salvation that time(Dispensation of the Kingdom)
the kingdom is at hand for the nation Israel, as God's fulfillment to his promise for them...remember in the time past ,God promised them to be a kingdom of priest(God will set up His kingdom here on earth),and wherein blessings will flow from them to the gentiles...they will become a blessing to the nations...to prepare them for this, they need to be baptize....
thus he said "repent and be baptize for the kingdom is at hand"...
