He's stationed at Selfridge ANG Base and he said the Iraq war will not be won the way we are fighting the war. It will end up like another Vietnam. He also stated the war was based on lies and the USA was wrong to go into Iraq. "We are getting our butts handed to us everyday in Iraq" he said.

What constitutes "winning a war"? We, as a country have already acheived a victory; we have disrupted many, many terror plots. 9/11 was not planned over a weekend, and the events weren't funded from someone working a menial second job. By removing Saddam Hussein from power we have seriously depleted the organization and funding associated with world-wide terror.
Now, there are still daily attacks on our service men/women serving overseas, and unfortunately these will probably never stop. But these attacks are not being performed by the same persons responsible for 9/11. The attacks in Iraq/Afghanistan can be related to local "gang-bangers" trying to prove something. In most cases these are not coordinated attacks, and many of them that are successful can be chalked up to luck on their part. These guys are simply showing their displeasure about coalition forces trying to regulate their areas. And by attacking coalition forces they appear tough and therefore often get held at a higher regard in their tribe/social culture.

Something else that must be considered is your source. Yes, he was a Marine, but has he been deployed, or is he listening to his buddies. And if he was deployed, was he in a support role? Remember, that of all U.S. personnel deployed in support of the war only 10% of them actually fight the fight. The other 90% are supporting the fighting men. Maybe he was a disgruntled Marine who wants to feel better about discussing something he actually knows nothing about.

Will we win the war? I think we already have. Now we are in the lengthy process of making sure all of the little embers are extinguished. It is more economical to do it this way than to ramp back up and do it all again in a few years (i.e. Operation Desert Storm).

But what do I know? I only deployed to Afghanistan twice and Iraq twice. This last time losing an eye and half of a hand to a roadside bomb. And I cant wait to get back to help finish this.

My friend that is over there said we will never win because the Iraq people aren't willing to do what it takes to make that happen. It's a quagmire, just like Vietnam.

My prediction? When the Democrats win in 2008, they will use ending the war as a platform to get votes, and hopefully get us out of there within a year of taking office. Too many lives lost for nothing already.

Is he a private? No intelligence knowledge given to privates. Being in the military does not mean you have a clue as to how the war is going, just that you have an opinion. One of my nephews should be declared a menace to the military - in & out of trouble. All the rest are honorable & support the war. The only one who thinks we are losing is the trouble maker. My son is a Commissioned Officer & he says it is winable but thinks a civil war will break out soon - so time is running out to win.

Yes he is telling you the truth. The war was just an excuse for Bush to get his hands on oil and more money, the millions of dollars wasted every day on the war should be put to use in the US on the US population.

check out "loose change" and "martial law 9-11; rise of the police state"both free on the web. i would have a hard time refuting what they present in these videos. it scared the heck outta me and oped my eyes . hey don't believe me ,watch them, research them ,... tell me where they're lying. like why did they have to "pull"WTC#7? and gwb's being oil business partners with osama for many years?just to many unexplained things lead us to this war.
