I went away after high school and they started dating. She informed me of this, and I was devastated. To this day, 20 years later. He was my first love and will be my last. They engaged and she broke it off, got married to someone else, apparently breaking his heart. Now years later, we are dating again. My problem is this: He wants to "all of the sudden" find out why she left him and get his ring back. (hello!!! its been 20 years!!) I cant get past this. I am torn. I have tried to be friendly with her again, I cannot. Whats going on? We are almost 40!!! Someone please give me something to go on here, anyone ever go through something similar? I feel my best friend and my X-boyfriend crossed the "forbidden line" that you NEVER cross. Help!!

I think its time to let it go or dump your ex boyfriend because its been 20 yrs move on your with him now stop worrying about the past

They both did cross the forbidden line. They would both have been cut from my life and never let back in. Both of them. So your dating him again and what's on his mind ?? Getting the ring back after 20 yrs ????? He's still an asshole. Why in the hell would you put yourself back in this situation ??

Thats a tough one for you both. Maybe you should both take some time apart - after all, distance makes the heart grow fonder! Being apart from you, he will hopefully stop reminscing the past and realise what he wants. Good luck!
