the head units have only very small amps in them, and have not much power. Also they are not designed to be primarily amps, theyre not the highest quality. They are not suited for running subwoofers, as they usually only make about 13 watts per channel. Theyre fine for most door speakers for most people though. Not the greatest, but much cheaper and a much easier install.

and for installing a subwoofer, you can still use your built in amp for the speakers, then just use the output into an amp for the subwoofer. They cant be both used on the sub at the same time to their maximum though, not efficiently at least.

and you should connect all 4 speakers to the headunit, and the sub to that amp. Thats not the greatest amp though. .

The subwoofer output from your cd player will not provide power to the sub to even play a single sound. You will need to use an external amplifier to power a subwoofer. The cd player's built in amplifier provides maybe 50 watts of peak power, probably 20 or 25 watts continuous. Basically, it is enough to play sounds through your normal speakers, but that is all.

Sorry,But .
It wud be really fun if the cd player is on the dash and the amplifier is connected somewhere near the rear door.
