I don't think I'd make two big transitions at once. Move him into the big bed first. THEN......
The "Nuk fairy" can come to take his paci's away after he is comfortable in his new bed. Talk up the "Nuk fairy" and how she comes to take paci's from the big kids who don't need them any more and leaves them a gift. Have him put the paci's out before bed one night for the fairy and then when he wakes up, have a small surprise waiting for him.

I would take it away before tell him that big boys don't use the Nuk and that he is a big boy and he is safe and loved. Also give him a special stuffed animal to sleep with to take his mind off the Nuk. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

As for the Nuk...I say let him have it as long as he wants it. Life is big & bad and if he gets some comfort from it-leave it to him. My Peds Dr says my daughter's teeth will be ruined, blah blah blah. By contrast, the dentist says it's a bunch of bull-pacifiers are about as harmful to teeth as as sand is to the ocean. She says that when my girl is ready, she will let her "P.I." go and letting her keep in until then will not hurt her teeth.
Your son is almost three & still in a crib??? Must be one tough crib!

do 1 thing at at a time. don't do both b/c they each are very overwhelming. i would put him in his bed first and then for his comfort he will have his nuk. wait about 3 weeks before you start weening him off of it. but, make sure you have something to replace it. like a blanket, stuffed animal etc.....

i would worry about gettin grid of the nuk, it no longet has a functional purpose for a three year old child...he doesnt have that instinct to suck anymore. unless hes excited about changing beds, i would start working on gettnig rid of the bink first. however, ,if hes excited about movng to a big boy bed, use it as initiative to get rid of the nuk. let him pick out a new sheet and comforter set to fit his new bed, adn let him know that he can move to his big boy bed as soon as he can give up the paci..also i would recommend giving him a lovey at night to substitute as a calming aide for his missing binky.

As soon as possible, but try to work him out of it.....I use to have one when I was a child and I didn't want to get rid of it....now I have a HUGE overbite, and the only way to fix it is braces. So try and take it away before your child won't want to get rid of it, and things end up getting worse before it gets better.

Don't make too many changes in his world at one time. It will just stress him out. Make one change and then wait to make another.
