Going in the woods is quite normal. Apparently your family doesn't do much day hiking. My husband grew up in an outdoorsy family that went backpacking and hiking all the time. Going in the bushes was normal. He took his kids backpacking, they did their "potty" in the bushes.
Nothing wrong with going potty in the bushes.
If it's "Number 2" I'd encourage your child to cover it with leaves and dirt. A few good kicks of dirt on it should do the trick.
Always carry extra TP for those emergencies in the bushes!

My parents kept a covered coffee can in the car for us...the updated version would be a giant margarine tub. It can be emptied the next time you find a restroom and the container is disposable. That way, it may seem a little less intimidating for the child than going into the woods where she could get bitten on the tushy.

"POP A SQUAT"
My 4 year old daughter knows how to do that! I had to teach her that at one of my sons baseball games. I could not find the bathroom and told her that it was fine to use the bathroom outside. Now she knows what to do when there is no bathroom around or when she is outside playing and can't make it into the house in time!!

Did the same thing with my friends kid. Always make sure you have wipes handly. I buy the travel size for my purse and glove compartment. When you gotta go, you gotta go!

When you gotta go, you gotta go. I would have done the same. Far better to "take care of business" then have her have an accident.

Even adults have done it. There is nothing you can do but go where you can.
