MARINES
the marines have the longest and hardest basic training in the world to earn the green beret

the paras give the maroon lid to attached ranks

marines breeze though p company course

marines are trained to fight anywhere paras are just trained to jump

to all the people putting the SAS would beat the marines you obviously don't know much about the military 1 they would never fight 2 the marines out number the SAS 5 to 1 (and that includes the SBS ) 3 the SAS are amazing force but they are only human

They are both elite forces and incredibly skilled at what they do. As has been mentioned elsewhere you can't compare them because they do different jobs. You can't compare them to the SAS or SBS as again they do different jobs although most recruits to both come from Marine or Para regiments. They both piss all over the bloody yanks!!

it would be hard to compare because both specialise in very different areas. what is true (as documented from numerous German officers and staff in WW2) is that traditionally, the British soldier does not excel in offensive operations, whereas when put in defensive positions with orders to hold he is quite tenacious.
