My husband and I are thinking of relocating there with our seven year olds and nine month old. Does anyone have information about which area specifically is safest, excellent schools, well kept neighborhood and affordable ( we're not wealthy!) We appreciate any help!

Mt. Dora is a great area, I live about 20 miles from there. Lot of neat shops. Leesburg is a bigger city. As for schools. I'm not sure. Don't have children that young. If rents are to high in Mt. Dora area go more towards Eustis, Umitilla or Astor area. It's all nice area. Good Luck! And welcome to the neighborhood. If you drive through Astor, Stop by the Nautical Rose and let us know how you made out!

Mt. Dora is a charming little town on a beautiful lake with pretty expensive real estate-especially around the lake proper. At Christmas time every tree in the town's park is lit and the whole area is awash with decorations and color. People come from all over just to see it.
