I am running windows XP home addition as my OS, but my applications are not showing on the left side of the screen at the bottom anymore. Does anyone have a take on this. Would appreciate some input if anyone might have experienced this before.

is anything showing at the bottom of your screen? like the start menu and the time? if not, you need to position your mouse at the bottom of your screen until it turns into an double-sided arrow.then click and drag up and the taskbar should appear with the start menu, applications, and time all intact.
if thats not the problem, try hitting ctrl+alt+del while you have programs running. if you see them listed there, then they are running. for the time being to switch between programs you can hit alt+tab and you can toggle between programs. I would call microsoft and see whats going on.

If you're talking about the blue bar where the Strat button sits, then I know the answer. You might have collapsed the bar by dragging it downwards. Put the cursor on the bottom and drag it back up. Hope that helps.
