If he is already your ex, I don't get the question. Oh, you haven't told him, yet. There is no easy way. It's too bad. But something you must do. It's the right thing. Be gentle. Tell him he's a good guy. This stuff really hurts.

All you have to do is tell him in a calm manner, because if you just come out and say it, it probably break his heart!!! Why is it that you want to break up with him?

Drive him to cheat on you, and then dump him for it.... If you have a really good friend they might do it for you.
But honestly breaking up with someone can be a real heartbreaker.
