I work for a christian charity feeding the homeless and less fortunate and have never met a church minister while out on the streets giving a helping hand, maybe it's just where I live!

I have served side by side knee deep in mud and sewage cleaning flooded homes...with other ministers, pastors. I have stood covered in sawdust from a pastor using a chainsaw to clear fallen trees off the homes of the victims of a hurricane. I have seen numerous pastors from numerous churches in numerous incidences serving their community and serving unbelievers who needed help.

Unfortunately there are ministers like that who think that these kind of work is beneath them. Most of the ministers who get their hands dirty are probably in a third world country getting their hands even dirtier, whilst those left behind in the developed countries develop a beer belly.

abitofchange23,
Yeah. I think that it's your church, not that it makes it a bad thing. Pastors typically have done those things and must do other things to keep things going.

But most importantly, if God called you to help in a certain way, march. Stop complaining. You seem to be murmurring, like in Moses day. You might incur a chastening.

If you have not been called to do what you are doing, stop doing it. People who do that are doing it because they want to think good of themselves, or others think good of them ( to be seen of men). It's actually serving of yourself. Thus, no eternal reward. Stop wasting your time.

Their burden is altogether different from your own. Everyone must play their part...concentrate on your work for the Lord and making sure your heart is pure.

Our pastor (now retired) came over to my house when my washer overflowed and used the wet vac on the spill.

Maybe it's just your viewpoint.

All ministers aren't like that. Don't generalize.
