Why do they think they have the right to look down on anyone? Were they never taught "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"?

Why do they not act very Christ-like? Who made them judge, jury and executioner?

You cannot lump all under one heading. I am a Catholic and I do not judge anyone. You need to realize that stereotyping is wrong.
ANd why is it you send an email cutting down the Catholic faith and then will not permit a return email? You have judged us all already.

I don't think that one religion looks down on anyone anymore than any other religion. Everyone has different morals. There is no perfect religion. My husband is Catholic and I am Methodist and we're both divorced but we are warmly accepted in the Catholic church even though we are not allowed to take communion. No one has the right to judge anyone. A higher power will make the judgement call. We all know the do unto others thing... don't point fingers unless you want them pointed back at you... It's time to heal.

Lindy,
"Why is it that Christians, especially Catholics, judge others so harshly?"
You didn't give an example, so it's hard to judge.

From what I've noticed here, sometimes the question is meant to incur wrath. But some of the posters are posing as if they were Christians, and they are the ones that might be telling you that you'll burn in Hell. Those are not Chirstians doing that. They ae just trying to make you mad, not spread the Good News.

So hang in there. If you want to do something positive try this:
Write down those that seem to be preaching the Gospel and look for their answers to anything that you consider a Christian question. Remember those names. If someone really strikes a chord of reason with you, continue your correspondance on e-mail. There are a lot of Christians that would prefer the one on one instead of this shotgun stlye question/answer stuff. Plus you will gather information faster.

E-mail me if you want. I will be as honest as I can.

The Lord's peace to you.

Lindy I just tried to reply to your email to me but your address is unconfirmed so I'll write it here ,after I answer this one! Christians aren't always judging. Sometimes it is the person doing wrong that feels judged because they know they are doing something wrong. All Christians do not look down on ppl. Some may be still growing as Christians and not know different ways of dealing with issues and sometimes it comes out wrong or different than they meant for it to. Now for the reply to your email. I do not know what question you are talking about.I went back and ckd but can't find anything close to it and you haven't asked any question except this one.I believe in God and know that He exists.Without Him I could not have survived several times throughout my lifetime. I also believe that God sent His Son Jesus to give us salvation from our sins. It is your choice to believe or not. God gave us the choice to make. He hurts when we make bad decisions because He is our Father and all good fathers hurt when their kids make bad decisions. I will pray that you are not among the ones who will enter the flames of eternity. You know that the time when Jesus is returning gets closer every year. Lots of world events are happening now that were written about in Revelations so it should be making some non believer's rethink their situation. I pray that you and many will make the right decision before then. Best wishes!

No one made them judge and jury. Judging is a problem that crosses every religious, ethnic, financial, moral, and national boundry. Everyone judges to a degree, you just notice and resent it more from someone you know as a Christian. All people judge people, places, events, situations etc by what they know, their own experiences, tastes, morals, etc.
As Christians we are not supposed to judge non-Christians, we are suppose to leave that to God,but we are supposed to "judge" in a way, fellow Christians. If we see them heading for trouble...., we are supposed to try to turn them around. In fact the Bible tells us not to take fellow Christians to court, or to have a non-Christian settle our disputes because that should be settled by the brethern. So next time a Christian tries to be judgmental towards you tell them to remove the log. Sometimes you think Christians are judging when they are just trying to help you, one of those "been there-done that" things.

As a Catholic I am a little offended that you would make such a broad sweeping remark.

I do not judge people. I hold to certain beliefs, those taught by the Church and in the Bible. I also hold that only God has the right to judge people.

I judge actions (homosexual sex is wrong, premarital sex is wrong, abortion is wrong), only God knows what is in the heart of the person and will pass His judgment accordingly.

It isn't the "job" of the Christian to judge people.

All religions that worship eternal damnation as a major tennant of their belief system, learning that anyone who does not "know" that their belief system or system's messiah is the Only Begotten, either of God or God themselves, and thenb says that those who do not do this go to some eternal damnation are basically spiritual, emotional, mental and sometimes physical terrorists. Often they do not realize that they are this way. Programming, thousands of years without response, has taught them to continue that behavior. There is extreme creed discrimination going on in this country and the world with regards to these cults and it is protected by the Privacy Act in the US, which makes these peolpe be able to hide their religion from paper and hence unwritten abuse takes place with the buddy buddy system of promotions in government and the private sector because of the strength of their social organizations. So basically the infrastructure of society is contaminated with this looking down and most people are not even aware of it.

What you need to ask is wether or not they are truely Christian. Anyone can go around and call themselves whatever they want, but keep in mind that standing in church yelling the loudest makes you no more a Christian than you standing in your garage looking under the hood of your car makes you a mechanic. If you come across a self professing Christian who looks down at people and tells them they are going to hell you need to ask yourself wether or not they are truely a Christian.

"Judge not lest ye be judged"

But also keep in mind that the world often takes this verse out of context and uses it to accuse Christians of being "judgmental" when they speak of sin. In the context of the verse Jesus is telling His disciples not to judge one another, something the Bible condemns (Romans 14:10; James 4:11). In Luke 6:41,42 He speaks of seeing a speck in a brother’s eye. In John 7:24 He said, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment." If someone steals, lies, commits adultery or murder, etc., the Christian can make a (righteous) moral judgment and say that the actions were morally wrong, and that these sins will have eternal consequences. Chuck Colson said, "True tolerance is not a total lack of judgment. It’s knowing what should be tolerated—and refusing to tolerate that which shouldn’t."

A true Christian is not "judging others" but simply telling the world of God’s judgment —that God (not the Christian) has judged all the world as being guilty before Him (Romans 3:19,23). Jesus was able to offer that woman forgiveness for her sin, because He was on His way to die on the cross for her. She acknowledged Him as "Lord," but He still told her, "Go, and sin no more." If she didn’t repent, she would perish.

Personally, I've found the Catholics to be the more accepting of the Christian sects. It's the fundamentalist and evangelical Christian denominations that would string you from the highest tree for saying there may not be a god. They are the ones on here who are screaming that all of us heathens will burn with Satan.
