Atheism is their religion.
I would think if someone really thought we were waisting our time and energy on religion; they would use their time and energy on something else other than trying to stop us from exercising our right to freedom of religion.
Seems kinda pathetic. If religion were a waste of time(It's not) than how much a waste of time is to to be trying all of the time to stop us. Also, the fact that they feel that they have to persecute us and get in our way of exercising freedom of religion, They must really believe that we are making a difference.
God Bless You, ;-)
Rejoice when you are persecuted.
They are just giving you your persecution points.
LOL :-)

Hahahaha.... its the religion *& spirituality* forum.
I think the reason there is such a ruckus here is because so many people have a bone to pick with other belief systems for a plethora of reasons, but not because they secretly want to be like you.

I don't "spend time" in the religion forum. Your question comes up on the general list. Your question was specific to atheists, which I am, so I answered.
I'm not pulled here to "learn the truth." I have my beliefs, you have yours. No one can be sure what the "truth" is.

No, some of us just want to see how stupid some believers can be! Or to take the piss out of you! I usually don't make fun of people, but believers tend to get on my nerves for some reason. Maybe because my grandmother died after one full year of suffering, and she used to go to church everyday. Anyway, I have never believed in god (well, I sort of thought about it when I was a teenager, but ended up believing that I had been righ not to go to catechism because it didn't make any sense), and never will!

Why the supposition that a belief in God is necessary for an interest in religion and spirituality?
I don't believe in Klingons, but I used to watch Star Trek all the time.

I think atheists are more interested in seeing what other people have to say, and are putting in their answer according to whatever they believe in, what ever that maybe.

It's entertaining, especially when someone declares religious dogma to be "truth". Just because it is true for you doesn't give you the right to declare it to be so.

I actually made up a youtube video to answer this very question.
My video is called, "Why do Atheists care about Religion?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4fQA9mt-Mg
This video helps to explain why I debate religion and try to encourage rational thought.

I find it interesting just how certain all you christians are, despite having no proof, and no real evidence to suggest that your beliefs are anything more than an elaborate scam. Terrifying, but interesting.
