If one small infraction against God can send me to hell forever, how much has my sinful nature clouded my ability to freely choose Him? Am I somewhere within a range of inability?

It's unlikely that one small infraction against God will send you to hell forever.

Now that that's out of the way...

Your sinful nature does not cloud your ability to choose Jesus as your savior. Your sinful nature makes it uniquely possible to choose Jesus as your savior--because in recognizing that you are a sinner, and recognizing that sinners need saving, and then coming to desire that YOU should be saved, you are ripe for salvation.

You would only be unable to choose salvation if you did not need saving.
