Yes, this is a question for Satanists.

I'm tired of Pagans being called Satanists, so, please...

... if there ARE any Satanists on this site, can you pop up so that everyone will know that YOU are Satanist and will leave us Pagans alone?

I'm a Satanic Pagan. They're not incompatible.
Some LaVeyan Satanists think of themselves as Pagan, and many theistic Satanists do.

There's no reason that Pagans can worship gods from the legends of the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Aztecs, Norse, Celts and Egyptians, but not the divinities of the ancient Hebrews. (Strangely, nobody ever tries to say that followers of Lilith aren't Pagan, even though she comes from the same pantheon as Satan.)

The problem isn't that people think Pagans are Satanists... after all, someone who didn't know might think a Wiccan is Buddhist, since they wear robes and burn incense and meditate, but nobody cares about that. The problem is that most Christians think "Satanist" means "devoted to evil"--and most Pagans react to that, instead of the actual word. Most Pagans act like it would be okay to hate and fear them if they were Satanists, and allow the prejudice to continue while they claim it shouldn't apply to them.

I don't ever deny being a Satanist--I just ask what the person thinks being a Satanist means. Then we can discuss whether I am or am not.

I don't know too much about this, since I am Catholic. But by definition, I believe that a satanist may be a pagan, but a pagan not necessarily is a satanist.

People who think Pagan and Satanist are synonymous are not going to visit this post. I'm thinking that the Satanists are probably equally irritated, though.

On a side note, when I was in Navy boot camp and we applied for our dog tags there was a space for religion. One guy in the company was a Satanist, and he put that. When his tags came back they said Protestant. My daughter is now on active duty, and hers do say Pagan. You can site the U.S. government as an authority that Satanists are not Pagan but Protestant.

I am not a pagan or a satanist but i want to say this- are the two really that separate? you may call me ignorant of your beliefs, whatever. But I beleive you are the same, because if you don't serve God your serving the devil. there is only two choices and it is that simple.

It won't matter, at least not to the willfully ignorant who don't care enough to differentiate between the two.

And does it really matter to YOU? You know you're not a Satanist, is it really that important that someone else validate your beliefs?
