depends what age they are. by 8yrs old they should be going by themselves but if in public toilet i would suggest going with them but let them go into the cubicle by themselves while you wait on other side of door as you can never be too careful nowadays especially when it comes to kids

8 years old is still of an age where she should be taken, but by a female. She was to old to be in the men's room. The way things are I would still take an 8 year to the bathroom in a public place.

You can take a boy into the ladies room, since there are stalls with doors. You should not, however, take a girl into the mens room. If you are in a public building, it depends on the age, and how busy the bathroom is. My husband would ask someone who works there to watch my daughter in the ladies room while he stood outside the door, starting when she was about 5.

I let mine go alone. But, I'm at the door waiting, and if it takes more than 8 min., I go in telling them to hurry up. I wouldn't let them go by themselves without being right there though.
Too many sick f*cks out there. It's not like it was back in the day when I grew up. I used to go to the bathroom at the age of 4.

IMO, if you're saying an OLDER brother took the 8-yr-old girl in the Men's room, then that's wrong. An 8-yr-old girl shouldn't be in the Men's room, period, and she's old enough to go to the restroom by herself in the Women's room as long as the older brother waits outside to watch for her to come out.
However, an 8-yr-old girl shouldn't be taking her little brother to the bathroom in the Men's room, either. If the little girl MUST be the one to take the boy to the restroom, it should be the WOMEN'S room. A little boy that young can be in there without any issue.

Yeah, I have a 7 year old and it freaks me out if I let him use the mens room alone. It would make more sense for an 8 year old girl to use the womens room alone. There are far fewer female sickos than male sickos out there (sorry guys, but the statistics don't lie).

I think it really depends on the place and how crowded it is...I think that an 8 year old was probably better off going alone into the girls room then being in the mens room! But maybe she was too scared and the brother did what he had to who knows?

back home there are family restrooms, which is quite nice if you are protective of a child or if a big family is togethere and 1 parent can't cope with too many children,.also they have mother rooms ,but what if a dad is with his little girl .
unfortunately there are cases like the 11/12 year old who was raped in a toilet,so i try not to let my girl go in alone.if i do ,i am waiting outside for her.rather safe then sorry.

i let my son who is 8 take y girls to the restroom. it's usually the family restroom and never into the mens. if he wants to take her i make sure it's into the ladies room and into one of the larger stall that way they are both in the same roon with one another. i also wait outside the doors like a hawk. an if my son goes into the mens room alone and stand outside and yell in at him if it's been too long. i know most of the men in there probably think i'm crazy but that's my baby and they ain't got nothin i ain't never seen begore.
