I dont understand how he can't give it to you...it is very hard to get off of xanax, and you can have seizures in the process...I don't know what his thinking is, unless he has a plan to detox you himself...Be VERY careful...I would like to know if you already have gotten off of it. Xanax and other like medications (Valium, Klonopin) are not for long-term use. If you have anxiety so bad that you need that kind of medication for over 10 years, you should be seeing a counselor to find the reason for your chronic anxiety. Also, your body becomes used to them and can actually cause rebound anxiety after a while. You may need to be medically detoxed (stopping benzodiazepines can cause seizures-talk to your doctor) and once you have been off of them for a while have your anxiety symptoms reassessed.

Yes. Listen to the Dr. There may be REASONS why the doctor won't renew the prescription. ASK them all about it.
