No, a God Parent is one that will look out for the spiritual well being of a child should the biological parents become unable or unwilling to do so.
I know this is throughout Christianity, not just a Catholic thing.

No. My family is Methodist and Baptist and there is a lot of fighting and grudge holding when a new child is born as to who the God parents will be.

No, I don't think so.
I'm Catholic and have never practiced any other religion, but I think other religions (especially other forms of Christianity) also have godparents and godchildren.

I believe the Church of England has that tradition too.
Many Independent Non Denomination Churches do-- when a child is ""Dedicated"".

Not at all. When I was confirmed in the Methodist church (which I have since left), I had godparents. I don't know, but I suspect that other faiths also have godparents, too.

i had a godmother and i was raised by Lutheran parents
each of my 4 daughters has a godmother, and i have never been Catholic

no. God-parents would also be like if your parents both died, youd go to them. its like a secondary set of parents for the incase. you dont have to be of any religion to have them.
