a female mosquito has to have blood to develop her eggs
A mosquito bite is where the lady mosquito punctures the skin to suck blood
She mixes the blood with an anti-coagulant , to stop it clotting too soon, so she has a good amount .
If the mosquito is infected ( Anopheles Mosquito) she may well pass on diseases such as Malaria )
The bite not felt initially t ; BUT a bit later, Then the site starts to itch like mad .,
when there is a reaction to the anticoagulant ; (histamine)
The site is usually scratched and a sore red bump produced :
An outside infection can be introduced this way
, . In some severe cases septicaemia
there are anti mosquito creams and lotions / anti-malaria shots ,
protective muslin bed curtains
all open standing water should be covered , or treated . ( eggs are only laid in still water )
I hope the little perishers do not get you this Summer!

From what I've heard, the mosquitos have a very mild poison in their saliva and human skin reacts with it to cause that itchy bump.

The mosquito actually inserts a "probe" into your skin and draws out blood. The result is a raised circular bump with a tiny pinpoint hole. The itch comes when you irritate the skin by first scratching at it.

It's not actually a bite. It inserts a tube that contains a blood thinner (then it sucks the blood out through another tube).
Humans are allergic to the blood thinner, so the bump is the reaction to that.

A mosquito injects anti-coagulant into the skin, so the blood flows freely and won't clot. That anti-coagulant is what makes the bump.

Yeah. you're taking like a tablespoon of baking soda and combine it with some drops of water, make it like a paste...then rub it on to the bites. It cools them down and forestalls the itching for a short even as.
