I have Suncom, and it sucks. I live in a dorm in Chapel Hill and I barely get any signal Anywhere in the building!!(maybe 1 or rarely 2) and it drops 80% of the calls. How can I improve my signal reception? any device?
p.s. I can't change my network, would cost me about 200-300 buck! .

You can't. You should have looked into coverage before deciding on a cell phone. BTW, who the phuck is Suncom? Never heard of them. Next time, go with a reputable carrier.

Chapel Hill service is very few and far between. Right now, Suncom doesn't have a lot of towers there. Go into the settings of your phone, set it to manual and select Cingular towers. That should work to get you onto the Cingular towers in Chapel Hill for now.

I wouldn't set my phone to Cingular. Depending on your rate plan, your roaming bill could be atronomical. I suggest either purchasing a higher end phone or a different brand. I don't know what type of phone you have, but quad-bands get better reception generally. Besides, GSM service is line of sight-there are tons of factors restricting your service indoors. Your cheapest, least work-intensive option is just to talk outdoors.
