Most definitely it is. I have health care via the State south of where I live. However, their providers (if needed) and coverage area covers into the State that I live in. Some insurance caompanies are restrictive to specific providers even. Simply have to check around. Ask everybody you know who they go through and why.

How to find out if it's less expensive? Ask what your premium would be. BUT.. also give them some scenarios.. ask what percentage they cover, what the co-pay is for an office visit, surgery, etc.

One may be cheaper premiums., but then they only cover a tiny portion of any bills and co-pays could be through the roof, and drugs could cost a fortune. Gotta look at all angles :)

If you like committing insurance fraud, then yeah, definitely lie about where you live to the insurance company.
