Why discriminate against us, just because the name of our religion is satanism? All we do is indulge in our carnal desires, unlike certain hyporacies. We DO NOT whorship the devil or lucifer or whatever, and we DO NOT send people to hell or steal souls. We dont burn down churches or whatever, that is a psycopath not a satanist. We have churches of our own, so why would we mess with yours when we are to busy practicing our beliefs?

You all say that we sould "change our name" if we dont believe in satan but it is only the chritians whom believe in him, he is after a christian demi-god.

a lot of you are agreeing with this matt guy. and you all make good points, but if you discriminate against us for our name alone, then it is you who has submited to the christian 'sin" as in passing judgment. have you ever heard " dont judge a book by its cover"? you are showing a poor sense of character

I read about various religions and honestly after having societies stigmas about what satanism is forced down your throat for so many years, it was quite interesting to read about the basic philosphies behind the religion. I agree with some but not all of what I have read and I think that the only reason that people discriminate against things such as religions is bascially just out of societies false assumptions, a great deal of ignorance and a fear of things that are unknown or foreign to them.

It is kind of odd to have a religion named after a bad guy you don't actually believe in. If you want to avoid discrimination, indulge your carnal desires without calling yourself a Satanist. Or maybe you all could improve the public image of Satanism, by doing lots of acts of kindness, community service, and charity in the name of your religion.

well i cant imagine how you can call urself a satanist without believing in satan? thats like christians calling themselves christians without believing in Christ. might wanan find a new name for it if u arent believing in satan. (im not christian nor religious sect so dont think im preachign to you) however i think many look down on satanists because its a direct defiance of good and moral behavior. if you believe in satan u have to believe in god and if you believe in god you believe in good and evil and hence you know the difference between the two and would rather stick to the evil (or lack of morality). that and im sure there are satanic cults out there that help give the bad name. so if you dont want to be classified under there, dont call urself one. call urself a follower of free will or something. lol

because people are afraid of what they don't understand. All you ever see or hear about satanism is whats on horror movies. Just like all you hear about muslims are they like to blow people up. Its just people scared to find out whats really going on.
I'll be the first to admit, I don't understand it. But theres a lot of things I don't understand so I guess its all about even, lol. But I try to give everybody the benefit of the doubt.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if the ideas about it are going to change you'll have to start with the media.

Yeah, I'm going with the response from Matt.
I don't know jack about Satanists, but the name itself implies belief in the "anti-Christian God." For me that's "evil." And, evil is (at a minimum) anything that harms others, and I know I'm against that.
So, yeah, if that's not what Satanists are about, then you totally need to get a new name (unless you gain your esteem from standing against Christianity, rather than standing for something).

matt just answered it nicely so i won't add anymore. U really can't call urself a satanist without being like a devil worshipper. Besides, if u ARE a satanist, maybe u need to get a real life. Even the United States was founded under God.....

When any group professes not to be what they are OBVIOUSLY by show of hands, by organizing, by protesting etc. etc. they are just trying to sell you a bill of goods not worth the keystrokes it took to post it here. this is true for you "SATANIST who say, in this case, "We DO NOT worship the devil or Lucifer". Satan is just another name for the DEVIL period...who are you trying to fool? Christ said it best "get thee behind me Satan, get thee behind me".
