When you feel like you are being criticized, is it without context or is it usually precipitated by witnessing to non-believers? Just wondering...

I'm asking because a lot of Christians are saying they have been called names, etc., and I'm just wondering what the context is.

Pagans are often told they can't practice their religions at school, etc. I'm not saying it's right on any account - I think denying Christians, Pagans, anyone the right to practice their religions is wrong - but I don't think the Christians who are upset about that sort of thing would really rally to the cause of a Pagan or Muslim who wanted to pray in their ways at school.

I am treated as evil by those who claim to be oppressed because they cannot force their beliefs upon me.

Hey benrig, get your facts straight, it was the Catholics & Mormons that got prayer and any other religious teachings such as creationism or intelligent design banned in public schools, not the non-believers. If that is why you feel attacked you are obviously pissed at the wrong people.

Atheists do not line up to attack Christians, we line up to defend our rights and freedoms that are put in jeopardy by the theocratical laws that the Christians are putting in place within the government. The only reason that non-Christian religions do not get the same treatment is because they are not trying to force their beliefs down our throats with theocratical laws.

Hey splinterjah, nice smear campaign.
Let's just correct your rant and show it for the misleading garbage that it is.

Smear #1. 'Many people are offended by the very name of Christ, that's why they call us Fundies... and thats why they don't want anyone to say Merry Christmas anymore, only "Happy Holidays"'

Reality #1.Yes this is a free country and you can call it Christmas if you like, but the government and schools cannot call it the "Christmas holiday" because your religion is not the only religion that has significant events during this time period. It is called having a little respect for other religions to call it the "holiday season".

Smear #2. "that is why in the armed forces when people pray, they are not allowed to pray in Jesus' Name"

Reality #2. Yet again have some respect for people of non-Christian faiths.

Smear #3. "that is why they have taken prayer and Bibles out of the school, and other things like drugs and guns have replaced them."

Reality #3 The Catholics and Mormons (both Christian faiths) filed the lawsuit with the help of the ACLU to ban open prayer and the teaching of religion in public schools because they did not want their children exposed to the evangelical flavor of Christianity. Guns and drugs have nothing to do with religion, quit smearing the truth.

Smear #4.Hatred is growing towards Christians, the popular term is to label us along with the terrorist....but why do they do that? Why do they hate....

Reality #4.When a Christian fundamentalist bombs an abortion clinic and kills people to show that killing unborn children is wrong, how is that not terrorism? As far as hate goes, fundamentalist Christians are right on par with the extremist Muslims for the award of the most intolerant people, second place is a tie between "moderate" christians and muslems.

Smear #5. "Well they have always hated us, from the thousands of us slaughtered by the Romans, to the hypocrite church burning us, to communist shooting us"

Reality #5. The millions of people slaughtered by the Christians during the crusades, millions more in the great inquisition and 20,000 or so slaughtered in Serbia in the nineties might have something to do with that.

Smear #6. "to Hitler placing us in death camps alongside of the Jews"

Reality #6 The only Christians in the death camps were gypsies, dissidents and homosexuals. Hitler was working for a Christian only continent (and yes he was just one single sick individual. What was the excuse for every christian that executed a jew under his orders?).

as far as the rest of your rant, I know nothing about these alleged incidents, so I will not comment on them and you should do the same about what you obviously know nothing about.

But I will say that you are way too arrogant and are sadly misinformed about the history of the things that you are complaining about

As a Christian, I feel that my belief system is the way to salvation. I generally try to maintain a good relationship with others and with God so that I can be a decent witness to Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, etc. No matter what others do, our mission is to be good, loving people and tell all others about Jesus dying for their salvation. Not everyone will listen, and I will certainly do wrong at times, and there are other Christians who will lose focus on what is right. But I will run the race and finish well, if I can.

The more sarcastic ones would call me an equal-opertunistic intolerant. Maybe.

But when an Atheist wants to criticize a religion, does he/she go after Buddhism? Hinduism? Islam? (actually, yes, but not on Yahoo questions, it appears)

We feel attacked because we are targeted more than other religions by those with no belief system. It's one thing for a Buddhist to get into a debate with a Christian. But when Atheists line up to go after Jesus...

Then again, maybe it just means we've got something going for us. Maybe the Atheists attack because some part of them sees the truth and rebels against it?

because of the fact the goverment and better instructions have become greater corrupted in the U. S. and characteristic been international for years and years, and years. additionally, because of the fact maximum individuals experience like God is long previous in some techniques, and that althrough the Bible and different religious scrolls attempt the chruch won't lined women and in some community is a substantial place of discrimination, no count the religion. So, i think of because of the fact of this, incredibly, top now, why Baptist, Evangelical, Joveah's, and Catholitics experience attacked, besides as politics as commonplace international in some situations. additionally, people often feeling like religiously like the church has lost this is values, even the Joel Osteens and TBN crowds experience somewhat lost or used. besides the emphasis on action picture star ideals and media bias exterior and in religious chruches and temples.

I don't generally feel like this. However, I was pretty shocked by the overwhelming anti-Christian sentiments expressed on commentary of an ap article called something like "Religion-related Fraud on the Rise." Which was an article about church people being taken advantage of by con-men. I do perceive that it will shortly not be okay to be a Christian in this country and the force of public sentiment will be used to persecute them like was used against the Jews in post-wwI Germany. At least, that is what is foretold in the Bible.

Criticism is one thing. Name calling is something else. Equating intelligence to Atheism or Christianity is entirely inappropriate. In 90% of the letters to Christians, we are in fact being attacked.

Also, judging all Christians by the actions of one or two is inappropriate. Hitler (actually a pagan) is routinely paraded as a typical Christian. If in fact he were Christian, he would only be an example of one sick man.

Dear [creatrix], please read...

I am a Christian, I am fortunate to be living in a free country, where I can have the right to worship...

Unfortunatly, my Christian brothers across the world do not have that same luxery....

Hundreds of them are killed everyday, many are hunted down in Muslims countries, where freedom of religion is oppressed... in comunist countries, they are not allowed to have Bibles or go to church...

Yet even here, in America, people are starting to hate Christians, so they believe in lies spred by haters... they have a bitterness towards us....

Many here on Yahoo! hate Christians, just look at how much they make fun of us, and post hatful racist questions...

Many people are offended by the very name of Christ, that's why they call us Fundies... and thats why they don't want anyone to say Merry Christmas anymore, only "Happy Holidays".... that is why in the armed forces when people pray, they are not allowed to pray in Jesus' Name... that is why they have taken prayer and Bibles out of the school, and otherthings like drugs and guns have replaced them.

Hatred is growing towards Christians, the popular term is to label us allong with the terrorist....

but why do they do that? Why do they hate....

Well they have always hated us, from the thousands of us slaughtered by the Romans, to the hypocrite church burning us, to communist shooting us, to hitler placeing us in death camps alongside of the Jews, to now...

I want to tell you a true story about a small group of Christians in early Comunist Russia...

A pastor with a single Bible met with 10 other Christians secretly, or so they thought, just then a team of Communist soldiers burst in the door... they grabed the Bible and threw it on the ground, then they said, " If any one spits on this garbage, you may live.".... and so reluctanctly, the pastor was forced to his knees, and he spat, and asked forgiveness, several others did so as well and each was set free. Until a 9 year old girl, crying, said," What hav they done to your word Lord?", so she picked the Bible up and wiped off the spit with her dress. Upon doing this, the Russian officer pulled out his pistol, placed it to her head and pulled the trigger without a second thought. The rest spat on the Bible and fled in horror.

Why do they hate Christians, when...

CHristians such a I follow this in the Bible...

"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that dispitefully use you and persecute you."-Matthew 5:44

And yet they call us ignorant, hypocrite, holyer than thou, ape brained terrorist fools.

Well if my belief in love and understanding makes me a fool, then I am a fool.

I grow tired of all the hate and insults from people, but I forgive them, because God forgave me. And because He forgave me, I forgive everyone that has done evil towards us.

May God bless you and yours,

a humble Christian

I don't "feel attacked " because I know what Jesus word says in Jhn. 15:18 "If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you." Vs. 19 "If you were of the world, the world would love his own; but because you are not of the world, but i have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."
I'm not worried but only those who do attack are worried and have a choice to accept the free gift of salvation of Jesus Christ.

Shalom

When I can't pray in school, or thank God in my graduation speech, or choose whether to learn Intelligent Design or Evolution, then yah, I feel attacked.

I try never to take it personal no matter how personal they become. I remind myself what Jesus said in that their hatred towards me is really towards God Himself. I believe He said that before they hated you they hated me first, or something to that effect. It is easier for a non-Christian to attack me directly or God through me since they have me here in front of them. So I never feel attacked since I know where the anger they show is really directed.

I don't feel attacked, I personally don't care what others think of my belief. I will defend my beliefs but I'm not taking no one's criticizm to heart. I know that what I'm doing is right and I know where I will spend eternity for it and that is all that matters to me.
