First of all, you need to learn how to write, and punctuate, spell. Then, get yourself a GED. Then, you can go to college.

But, do you want to go just because you have seen too many movies based in sororities or fraternities, or do you want to learn and earn a degree? If you are not serious about the education, why bother wasting the time and money?

Hi,

There aren't any colleges that offer GED courses that I know of. You can contact your local Board of Education. Most of them offer GED classes and testings. In most cases it is free if you score a certain amount of points.

Once you obtain your GED, you can then apply for college. Sometimes your states GED office may even offer a scholarship for you to college if your test scores are high enough.

I just received my GED over a year ago. I did graduate from high school but because I was having problems finding where the records were stored, I was unable to receive my transcripts or a copy of my diploma. Because college has always been a dream of mine, I set aside my pride and went and got a GED. Now I start classes at the local university on August 28, 2006 and I couldn't be happier (I am 39 years old).

You can do and be anything you put your mind to. Don't let anyone or anything deter you.

I wish you the best.

Contact your local community college; they will have career and educational counsellors you can talk to. The first thing they will recommend for you is a remedial course in English grammar and composition. You really need to improve your writing.

Your community college can help you with your GED, and help you get some of the most odious general college courses out of the way while you decide what you want to study.

Then you can find a residential college if you still want to, though you have to be already messed up in the head to want to go through all that stuff.

And remember that there is still some argument as to whether a 4 year degree is really worth it unless you want an academic career. In many fields, a 2-year degree and 2 years experience are worth more in employment terms.

A high school diploma is OVER-RATED .You'll do just fine with a GED.I dropped out of high school when i was 16 and recieved my GED 1 month later. After that I enrolled in a Junior college and graduated with an A.S. degree in mathematics by the time i was 18,which is the time i should of finished high school.By the time my friends graduated high school,I already had a college degree.Upon completion of my A.S. and a GPA of 3.8, I transferred to The University of Southern California (usc) and by the time i was 20 yrs old graduated with a Bachelor's of Science(B.S.) in Aerospace Engineering.I went on to grad school after that and by the time I was 22 I graduated with a masters in PHYSICS. I am now 23 and I work for BOEING As a Head engineer and I'm planning on becoming a proffesor at usc next year and teach physics.I am very proud of my success and thank GOD for giving me determination and all of this started with a simple GED.

One of the few choices you have are community colleges. Most of them do not have housing, as you found out, but it does not stop you from having an apartment or a room-mate on your own and attend it anyway.

You should visit your local community college and have a conversation with guidance counselors. He/she will give you the choices you have. Then, walk around the campus, paying attention to bulletin boards. They are filled with "room mate wanted" ads.

Your first goal will be to earn your GED. Without it, the college will not admit you as a "degree seeking" student into the college.

By the way, what do you want to do in college? Do you want to live in the college dorm and have a crazy moment or are you interested in studying?

You need to get GED before you look into any college. Find a local place that teaches for the exam and go for it. You can always start in January once you pass the test. Good Luck

Some community colleges have remedial classes to make up what you missed in high school, but they usually require at least a GED to get in. In any case, check out your local community college. As far as housing, get your two year degree under your belt first. You can get the housing at a four year college.

If it's that important to you, you need to take the GED. You can do that through online/distance ed programs by going somewhere like google.com and typing in 'get GED online' or something to that effect. Once you have done that, -then- you can go about looking to get into college. You need to start thinking about the future implications of your actions.

You need to polish up some of your skills and get a GED for sure. I would check at your local help organization such as CEFS or public aid office. They should be able to give you information about GED programs in your area
