I read and answer to a question about a girl who was taught that God is love and will answer your prayers, but her father beat her. She prayed to God, but nothing happened. I just wanna say that God is love and will answer prayers,(besides being just and fair, punishing the wicked) but when we face our troubles in life and pray, God usually doesn't take away our problems, he carries us through our problems , making us stronger in character and more pure in faith. James chapter 1 verse 2-4: "Consider it all joy, my bretheren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have it's perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." I'd just thought I'd say that. God's in control everyone.

You can add to that 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 which states :

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction...."

Note that God comforts us IN all our affliction, not necessarily removing the cause immediately. The Apostle Paul was familiar with this, saying,

"...a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'" - 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Awesome insight into the Word of the Lord! You're absolutely right. God knows what's best for us and sometimes even if we can't see the good in something we can always trust that God does. With that, we can walk through anything because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Keep speaking the Truth!

Let me quote here:
"God usually doesn't take away our problems, he carries us through our problems, making us stronger in character and more pure in faith."

Sounds like the girl who gets beat can pray all she wants but it's not going to do her a damn bit of good. That's not the kind of God I'd want to have.

God never promised to stop the storms, only to see us through them. That girl is probably going to meet someone in life that she can be an encouragement to because she has the experience. Nevertheless, it is sad when those things happen, but truly she will be a testimony to someone!!

Yes, God helps us through our problems. Makes us and our faith stronger. Great statement, I mostly agree, but there are parts of which you said that I disagree with, but they are little things, so I shall keep them to myself.

Very well put, although it is so very hard to see God in a situation like hers, He is there. My prayers are with this girl, and I hope all others will join with me in praying for her.

Thank you, beautifully put! And we must trust and give thanks to Him through our circumstances, not beg Him for a way out.

I love the song by Casting Crowns - Praise You In This Storm - it is a perfect example of how we need to just have faith!

So it is all fine and dandy for "god" to kill a bus full of children and let the driver live to make him stronger and teach him a lesson? I dont think so!

That's awesome and I agree. Be prepared for the God-haters' and the athiests' responses.
