look beyond the obvious...
the vision of reality lies beyond what you can see...
you cannot think away your situation, you have to build it...
your reality as you call it, is an expression or rather a manifestation of your subconscience...
our circumstances make us what we are meant to be...and the best you can do is to be in harmony with your experiences...
you sure have qualities in you...do have any inclination towards anything creative? like music, paintings, writing, photography, sculpting or any form of art...
art is a discovery of yourself...
when you express, you'll realise tremendous qualities hidden in you...
when you learn to create you start manifesting your desires...
it gives you a sense of completion...a fulfillment...
and try meditation...it will open up your mind and existence in a whole new dimension...
meditation takes you to plane where you transcend your thoughts and feelings...and realise your true self...
to be effective and confident you just need to realise that you already are incredible...
you are a beautiful expression of life...
you are life!

Eat healthy and go with the flow.
Meditation is about clearing your mind of thoughts. It's usefull for having piece of mind. One way I've seen it done, is to let what ever it is come to mind and accept it, because the more you fight with it, the harder it will be to get rid of it. In the world of the mind (not necesarily physical reality), things exist when they have oposites, to fight with your thoughts is just more cause for them to exist, other wise thoughts become transient and forgotten.
What you describe in your question is projection of your thoughts into the physical world. A person with a negative mindset will see negative things where there is none. They will look at someones behavior and think that they have a grudge against them, and may even go so far as conspiracy.
The easiest way I have found around these thoughts, is to say to myself the root of things are meaningless, because really they are meaningless, you create the meaning. So in this meaningless world, the question becomes... 'What do you want your life to mean', instead of 'What is the meaning of your life'.

It takes practice and hard work. Keep a thought journal. Recognize when you are thinking negatively. Do positive things, do things for others without expecting a reward. If you want to have self-esteem, you must perform esteemable acts.
Google search "thought stoppage" "overcoming negative thoughts" and "positive thoughts," etc. There are tons of websites about this.
Again, it takes HARD WORK and practice. You may not "feel" like stopping your negative thoughts. Do it anyway. Don't wait for "feelings" before you take an action. Move your body, and your mind will follow.
Love, Jack.

misery loves company, so first, i would refrain from negative people. Surround yourself with people with Goals, and zest for life. Secondly.... it's bibilical. (not tryin to get all "holy" on ya) but it works!! We have a good God, and He can help you! The bible says that Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word. Listen to positive Christian music. Listen to a bible teaching broadcast. Christian television. They are forever speaking positive. Also, if you give credit where credit is due, He will reward you! If you acknowledge that God is your hope, and strength, then he'll help you. Don't let any negative thoughts come to mind. I always so, I don't receive that. Its a lie from the devil. The devil is a liar and he has no room here. Also, the bible says to take every thought into captivity that exhaults itself against the knowledge of Christ and to cast it down. So, I picture a bubble above my head (like a cartoon) and when the thought comes up, I reach up and pop it (mentally) and I say and declare, nope! You can't come here. I am worthy. I am a good person, I can do this. I am a child of God. Then, I stomp on the words that deflated to the ground and i send them to hell where they came from.... the devil. Sounds silly, but it works! And ultimately, I love God and intend to go far for him. Good luck!!! Praying for ya!!

Use the tools of your own consciousness (visualization, meditation, affirmation) to empower, strengthen and balance your body, mind and spirit. Begin with a simple affirmation and set up your day in positive Mode for positive thoughts and actions to happen. Repeat during the stresses of your day and make it your last thought at night. In this way, you will be leaving all your dramas, traumas, stresses in God's hands for solutions to appear.
Inspiration for your affirmation can be found from many sources - the Bible has wonderful 'songs' in the Psalms - choose a simple verse...poetry and prose from the famous, as well as good, inspirational literature. Keep it simple and positive so you can remember your lines.

Read the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. He talks about changing negative thinking into possitive thinking and apply it to every part of your life. There are also support groups.

Is this a clinical problem? Or just a personality tendency? If it is a clinical problem, then I would recommend finding a cognitive behavioral therapist. Cognitive behavioral therapy in part focuses on identifying negative patterns of thinking and restructuring them.
