South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique are all worth a visit. South Africa is great, well-developed, with lots to see and do. Southern African people are great, friendly and warm.

Have a wonderful trip.

South Africa is great there is so much to do and see but is becoming very violent. Botswana is wonderful, especially the game viewing in the Okavango Swamps, the people are very friendly and there is little crime to worry about (although they have a terrible HIV/AIDS problem). Namibia is amazing, desert, wild, coast beaches, wonderful game viewing at Etosha, Lesotho is very mountainous and can be a bit chilly this time of year and Swaziland is very similar to South Africa. My favourite place is Cape Town and I would really recommend you go there and drive around the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth calling in at Oudtshoorn to see the Cango Caves (like the Wookie Hole and Cheddar Gorge, only bigger) and Ostrich farming. At Kimberley in the Free State is the Big Hole and a wonderful reconstruction of the diamond town as a Museum. Then there is Sterkfontein where early man was found, KwaZulu-Natal with its mountains, Valley of a Thousand Hills, Durban and wonderful beaches being lapped by the warm Indian Ocean. Oh, and the Kruger Game Park and the wonderful mountains of Mpululanga, with forests, waterfalls, high windy passes and beautiful roads.Give Johannesburg a miss, it is just another big city and very violent with hi-jackings and muggings but if you like to gamble you could visit Sun City, a Las Vegas type Complex. Wherever you decide to go I hope you have great time, and be safe. Oh, and don't forget the sun screen.

Johannesburg is the next largest town in Africa, with more than 3 million people contacting that busy metropolis home and if you intend to visit that outstanding town then that hotelbye is the place to start. Johannesburg offers visitors an event as distinctive and varied as the city itself. If you are on business, searching for a social experience, an adrenaline speed or just want to relax and rest for a few days, the city of Johannesburg has every thing you are trying to find and more! In Johannesburg you are able to look at the Soweto (an abbreviation for South-western Townships) at 20 kilometres southwest of Johannesburg. This place presents guests a trip to the soul of the fight for freedom and the birthplace of the struggle for democracy.

As a potential visitor to South Africa you should check out the site www.crimexposouthafrica.org before finalising any plans. South Africa has some wonderful scenery and beaches but many of these places are extremely unsafe as the Country is in the grip of violent crime. Tourists are being targetted at Airports by gangs of thugs with accomplices waiting outside so be warned. If you still decide to visit South Africa then you at least do so in the knowledge of what to expect.

You have to visit Cape Town - The Mountain by the sea ! drive Camps Bay and Chapmans peak - it is gorgeous ! Im origanilly from Durban and if you there, go to the Drakensberg, just next door to Lesotho (Maluti Mountains) Oh and if you got time Sutherland in the Northern Cape is also worth a visit, the drive is about 70miles from the motorway, and its just land and land and more land until you reach Suterland where you can stargaze with the 2000 local people thatt live there.... Oh and take warm clothes for the winter !!

I think Zimbabwe, despite it's economic problems,is the best Southern African country, it's only the economy that has problems , i think with places like Victoria Falls, Kariba, etc, i'd love to go there soon. The hotels are brilliant, friendly people, and i don't see the reason why people say it's a violent place to be, South Africa is actually worse when it comes to that. I don't mean to scare you but the levels of crime there are ridiculous, but anyway, SA is a beautiful, i've been to Pretoria and Soweto, i liked Pretoria more. You'll enjoy yourself, don't worry.

Angola without a doubt, the people are friendly and polite. Luanda is a vibrant city and much more cosmopolitan than you might expect. They are really getting their act together and it's a great place to visit.
