An 'Atheist" friend named Bob, after a whole afternoon of anti God tirades informed me that 'Helium' is THE most basic element in the universe and thus the whole earth and its contents were made from this most basic element, Helium.
I then informed him that then "Helium must be GOD in his most basic element" he looked at me quite pissed off and walked away. I did not see him nor spoke with him again for two years. One day I ran into him and instinctively said to him "Hey Bob how are you and God doing" ? In a calm and sober tone he replied, 'OK I now believe in God, we are really getting along just fine'. Again instinctively asked, "was it because of..." and he cut me off to say "Helium", we both laughed and he said "yea Helium".
I offer this as 'Food' for spiritual thought.

I am Christian and I believe that our knowledge of what we are calling evolution is not complete, and that our knowledge of the creation also is not complete. I also believe that when that knowledge is complete, then we will know. And until then, we do not know. We make assumptions based on "evidence" and none of us can say that we have all the evidence, and the persons who says he has enough evidence will soon be proved wrong and ridiculous.
Therefore, the creation event is unimportant.
It is a distraction.
And something very important is being missed.
For everything there is both a beginning and an end.
The knowledge of the beginning will not be obtained before the end is experienced.
The end is unavoidable as is the beginning.
It is the preparation for the end that is important.
Prepare.
The end is coming.
"Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created man on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of? "
"Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time."
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. "
Be prepared.

Typical.
If it isn't the evolutionists berating a belief in God, it's religious types berating a belief in evolution. And then they all blah about how cruel the other side is.
The fact is that just as religious people can't prove that God created life on earth, Evolutionists can't prove it somehow emerged from a ghastly puddle of soup. We just don't know how life originated. There is no proof either way. How difficult is that to grasp?
In the absence of what we know, there is only what we believe. And so everybody starts with the same leap of faith in a direction which best suits their overall disposition. Some place their faith in the muddy puddle. Others in some deity or another.
So, as an evolutionist let me cheerfully and openly tell you that I have no idea how life came to be on earth. I can't prove a single thing in that department.
But what I do know is that evolution explains perfectly the diversification of life on earth. It explains how one species spawns another, how, over time, species become genera, and how, over longer periods of time, the taxonony of life works its way from the bottom of the table to the top as life conquers all barriers.
Let me also say that as an evolutionist I am a keen student of the Bible. Because just as evolution explains how life works, the Bible provides a good guide for how life should be lived. See, I don't need to believe in God to see that the Bible is a good handbook for life.
It's just a pity, I think, that so many religious people who demand tolerance in one breath are so intolerant that in the other they flaty refuse to see that an acceptance of evolution is not contrary to a belief in their God.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say "though shalt not evolve".

To me, it comes down to the fact that evolution and the big bang theory have been tested and even though they are still only theories, the vast majority of the scientific community believes they are real. Evolution makes sense to me. The bible seems to be nothing more than another book of myths, similar to the Odyssey or the story of Gilgamesh. Both of those works were considered to be the truth in their time, why is the bible still taken seriously while those no longer are?

Why do the ideas have to be mutually exclusive?
I think that if you plan on challinging people to produce proof, it would be wise to have some proof of your own to counter it. The problem with your argument is that many, although certainly not all, believers in evolution do not accept the Bible as an infallible source. As for myself, although I do not blindly accept the Bible (no offense intended - it's just how I would see my own belief in the Bible and I don't mean to imply that those who do believe it haven't thought long and hard about it) and I do believe in evolution, I also believe in a Great Spirit who orchestrated it all. That makes sense to me. But I can offer no proof. Evolution, like Genesis, is a theory.

I challenge you to take a science class and learn something.
You have obviously been trained to believe all the fairy tales that your particular church promotes. That's fine, I have no problem with that. But I will not waste my time showing you evidence of evolution when you clearly have no interest in learning about it - you just want to preach. No thanks!
Why don't YOU come forward with your big proof of God. And no, the Bible is not proof - it is a book, as much 'evidence' as Harry Potter.

I believe that God created everything in the beginning, but being a smart individual and not closed minded, left it open for change and to evolve however things seemed fit. Knowing that the environment would not always be the same as it was when he created everything. So with a world of plants and animals living with the option to make slight changes to themselves seem perfect. Then it all changed when the aliens came down and mated with the animals and humans where their off spring and all hell then broke out.
Just to summarize my thoughts

God is perfectly improbable. Anything is a better guess than God. Besides that, we have good reason to believe the universe was formed from a big bang. The Bible is just one piece of fiction people have created.

If the Big Bang is to repeat itslef, shouldn't God come back to talking to us directly? Besides, history doesn't repeat. I don't remeber the invention of electricity happening every century.
My proof is in fossils. Your proof is a book that has never been verified.

Why is it so hard to believe that the real God is in a struggle with your biblical god for the souls of humanity? I will tell you the truth as it has been divinely revealed to me: Your fake Christian god fooled men into writing the bible so the world could be misled. The true god is knocking at your heart and wants you to follow him.. will you answer?
Do I sound crazy? Now you know how a lot of the rest of us feel about your rhetoric.

Loving God? How could a loving god ask Abraham to kill his son on an alter to prove his faith. If this is love I want no part of it.
Don't reply that god stopped him befor the sacrifice took place.
Abraham still would have went through enormous mental suffering in the process.
