Okay I am 5' 3", and I weigh around 150 pounds. My dad always keeps telling me, "You're overweight, and we need to start worrying about this..." I'm sick of hearing this! He always says I eat too much, when I hardly eat at all! I can't say it's a perfect weight for someone my height, but do most of you think I'm that much overweight? My dad always says it as if I weigh twice as much as I should. I just want to know what all of you think?

at 5'3" your target weight is 115. 100 lbs + 5 lbs for every inch you are over 5 feet. so 5'6" 6 x 5=30 130lbs. That's the rule my aunt taught me who is a dietician. Sorry but you're about 35 lbs overweight.

well its not THAT overweight but it could become a problem you left out your age but I'm gonna assume your around or under 16 and so yes for your height that weight is a little high and its easier to lose while your young. It may not be how much you eat but what and when....if your eating a lot of junk late at night this will make it hard for you to lose and could be causing you to gain...for some simple steps to help you lose 1) eat less, late (this means don't' eat after say 7 and if you have to you just feel like your starving eat fruit or veggies) 2) try drinking a big glass of water before every meal 3) and this is going to sound funny telling you to eat but EAT BREAKFAST but not like a number one from McDonald's 4) do crunches during commercials when your watching TV (my sister-in-law did this and lost 20-40 pounds in like 4 months and looks WAY better now)

Also according to the AMA (American medical association) the ideal weight for someone your height is 111-124

I was just your size before I started college, I'm 5'2" and I weighed in at 152 pounds, while that's not exactly big (most people guessed my weight to be about 140) It's still ot healthy. I was afriad that if I let myself stay at 150, then I would gradually get bigger and become truly fat.

I think I'm at my target weight now, which is about 135, but I still, and always will look bigger. Sometimes you cant help but appear wider and have alarger build thwn other girls. It's just naturally who you are.

My advice is to go to a doctor or your school nurse, get your body mass index and your body fat percentage. Compare that to other girls your age, and size then decide whats healthy for you..

As for your dad, ask him to be less critical, tell him that weight is starting to become a hard subject for you, and that critizicng you will only make you feel worse, (and with some girls, that makes you want to eat more), ask him to help you focus on eating healthy, rather then critizing you.

goodd luck!

Well, I'm 5'2 and I weight about 142. It all depends on where the weight accumulates. If you're comfortable with how you look, then you're fine. People will put ideas into your head because of how they're feeling about themselves sometimes, and we can't let that get to us. If you truly feel conscious about your weight, consider going to the gym when it fits into your schedule and excercise for a few hours a week. You can also do it at home. Excercise is never a bad thing, and it may help you feel better about yourself - not to mention more energized. Hope that helps!!

I know a girl, 5' 3", that ranged from 107-117

also knew a girl that was 5' 2' and weighed 140

Point is that they both looked pretty damn good. The thing is I think it's more than just height and weight that go into it.

For 5'3 you should weight 113 - 130 (maximum). That makes you obese (not just overweight).

Your Dad is right and you need to start worrying about your health and take much better care of yourself. Time to start an exercise program -- moderate exercise for at least 1 hour every day. And you need to get your eating under control. Watch WHAT you eat as well as how much you eat. Aim for at least 1,200 calories per day (but no more than 1,400) consisting of lean protein, whole grains, fruits & vegetables.

Best of luck to you.

You didn't tell us your age? Also your dad may be overweight himself and is feeling guilty so he takes it out on you. Being overweight may come from your parents. If you are overweight by 25 - 30 #'s dont worry.

I do not think you are overweight, certainly not fat. That being said, I personally like my woman a little on the big side. So tell your dad you like the way you look and to back off.

First of all, your dad is coming to you about this issue all wrong. More than likely, he is just worried about the health issues that being overweight can cause, i.e., heart disease, hypertension, etc. However, he is being callous about his approach to you and should show more compassion about it. Since I do not know anyting about you, try the link below and enter your personal information, and hopefully that will give you more insight. Good luck.

yes, you are overweight, but your dad is going about telling you all wrong. you should see a doctor to get a healthy diet and excercise plan. you should weigh about 130, with a large frame and high muscle mass, 115 with a small frame
good luck!
