How do you get "fooled" into joining the military?? This is an all volunteer military. That means you join BY CHOICE!! Just what do you call the "real world"?? We've been in 18 years and this IS real to us. It's the life that we've chosen. My hubby never looks back and regrets his decision. He's proud of his career and after 20 years, he'll still have a marketable career when he gets out. I'm sure not all jobs in the military are good when you get out, but that's the chance you take. Being in the military isn't about money and you know that from the start. You just learn to go without certain things. You can still have a very good life. We've got all the things we need to have a happy household. Can the "real world" say they're happy??
No, joining the military wasn't a foolish decision and neither was staying married to my soldier all these years. I have the utmost respect for him and what the does.

Although I don't think my recruiter was totally honest with me when I signed up back in 1987, I don't feel as though I was fooled or tricked. Like anything in life, there were things about the Army I liked and didn't like. Freezing my **** off in some German forest in the middle of the winter while in the field would definitely be at the top of the didn't like column. I was an MP in the Army, and when I was performing the law enforcement part of the job I loved every second of it. It was the playing army ,eating MRE's and not being able to bathe for weeks in the middle of the woods that I hated. Overall, it was a great experience that made a man out of me and gave me the discipline and the can do spirit I have today that my current employer can't get enough of. They love me, and I am making buku bucks too! Back in the day, being in the Army and stationed in Germany was allot like being away at college. When I wasn't working, I was downtown partying my little booty off eating the finest food and drinking the finest beer on the face of the earth. I wouldn't trade my Army experience for all of the money in the world, and there is much about it that I miss very much.

How does anyone get fooled into joining the military. You would have to live under a rock to not know what our military does. Just a note if you joined only for money, and not for cause or country wouldn't that make you a mercenary.

Only fools get "fooled" into joining the military. All the other men and women of the military had a good idea of what they were getting into. Although the military does know that the offer of "free money, housing, and tuition" in exchange for serving your country will appeal to some people, there is no trickery going on. The military never interested me, I was much more interested in college and making huge paychecks, retiring at an early age and driving around in Rolls Royce Phantoms and an BMW M5's. But I have the utmost respect for it. Without it, we would not maintain our freedoms from the tyrants of the world. Freedom to drive my Phantom down Rodeo Drive and pick up hot chicks.

I am proud of the time I spent in the military and I was not fooled into enlisting. If you have never been in the military (i'm assuming) then how could you even ask a question such as this. Many people go in to the military because they have no direction and realize this.
Where else can you get job training, go to college, get free housing, always have food to eat, get a paycheck, life insurance, medical and dental, and be a part of something bigger than you are in the so called real world?
Oh, and be able to buy goods for a hell of a lot cheaper than civilians have to pay for it.

You know what, people don't get fooled into joining the military. Everyone makes a sound choice based on their personal situations and or regarding social economic issues. So, speak for yourself in making a foolish decision. However, I respect all military citizens and appreciate all that they do for me a tax paying civilian regardless of why one made the decision to join.
My father was in the army and he sure is an awesome role model for all of us girls (his daughters). We know what CHARACTERISTIC qualities to look for in a man. The most important characteristics are COURAGE, LOVE AND HONOR!

What did you do? In your picture it just makes you look like a homeless person.
I'd still join the military no matter what's going on!
