MYTH:I can only lose weight if I eat less than 1000 calories per day.
FACT: Consuming too few calories can send your body into "starvation mode." Your metabolism slows down, putting your body into a state of survival in which it conserves more of the calories you eat, making it more difficult for you to lose weight.
MYTH: Losing weight means deprivation.
FACT: Long-term weight loss is achieved with balance and moderation, not deprivation. You are less likely to stay on a program that requires you to give up your favorite things. So, include your favorite foods and give yourself rewards - you are demonstrating a healthy balance, not a lack of willpower.

unless you're a pretty small person, 1000 cal/day is probably too low. did a dr. or nutritionist put you on that diet? if not, i think it's probably too extreme and would explain your hair situation. the condition of your hair often reflects your overall general health and right now, there's a chance that you're malnourished. if you switch to a healthier diet (more calories!) your hair should start to grow back. also, take a multi vitamin to make sure that you're getting all the micronutrients that you need. if the hair loss persists, i strongly suggest you see a dr.

It is normal for a person not geting the right amount of nutrition. But is not normal in a healthy diet. You need to increase your calories to a good level and increase your activity. I also recomend that you see a dietician. In general very low calorie diets (VLCD) normal do not produce a long term weight loss.

Hair loss is a symptom of anorexia. Obviosuly, your body is trying to say that you should increase the calories you consume. 1500 per day would be better.

If you are on a calorie restricted diet the food you do eat must be GOOD. Hairloss is a bad symptom.
Forget the food pyramid and all the BS fed you by the agribusiness/FDA mafia
