I have alot of family issues and would probably rather have our wedding away somewhere (plus my fiance doesn't want to stand in front of everyone), but weddings are so expensive to have it away. I figured that if we had it here, even with the reception, it would be at the most $3000.00. I'm trying to find somewhere to have the wedding that will only cost $2,500 - $3,000 to go away for a week. This would be just for us and a few friends (maybe 10 - 20). Do you know of anywhere to have a wedding away at that budget? Have you had one there or know of anyone who did? If so, how was it?

We plan on only inviting those who want to come, we won't take it personally if they don't go. I only expect them to go if they want to. That is not rude.

Well, been there done that - actually been there - doing that! We are getting married in Grand Caymen in April. We booked a Carnival cruise - the cruise was 459 per person (a seven day cruise out of Miami) and the airfare from Mephis to Miami was 268 total round trip per person (it was 198 total round trip out of Philadlelphia, PA - my maid of honor lives there and we booked it all together). The wedding itself is 850 - i think the total came to 2560 - for the cruise, the airfare and the wedding - plus you have a built in honeymoon and cruises are all inclusive with food!!! You can do it and it'll be so much fun!!! Vegas is also great - we thought about that but the cruise sounded like more fun. Good luck and congrats!!!
As far as a destination wedding being rude - it's your day - all that matters is that you and your honey get married. If you don't want a big wedding, that is your choice - if you want people to come along - tell them that you are getting married someplace and they are more than welcome to plan their vacation around it - but you won't be offended or hurt if they don't come. That's what we did - it's my wedding - not theirs - the people who want to be there are making arrangments to go. :) Enjoy!

I am pretty sure this goes for any state. Most state parks and even National monuments have very reasonable rates for a site fee.
I can't remember what the exact fee was but I had a friend get married at the monument in Grande Junction,CO. The fee for her was under 50 dollars plus I think 3 dollars for every car load of people that entered the park to attend the wedding.
As far as a reception, I have another friend who rented a nice park and had a barbecue, since it was cheap he had a few extra dollars to get some higher quality stuff to throw on the grill.

Florida is a good place for destination weddings, especially the Florida Keys. You can probably do a small wedding there for around $1000, so that would leave $2000 for flights and hotel accomodations for a week. I think that's pretty reasonable.
I did my wedding in Key West. It was a great setting and everyone really enjoyed the wedding. Our budget was a little higher, so we had it at a nice hotel on the beach. But, you can do a fun wedding for less.

i propose option 3 - only fly to Hawaii and get married on the sea coast at sundown. First, you could spend your funds on an particularly staggering summer gown that you'll positioned on back - not only a stupid wedding ceremony gown that is going less than the mattress for all eternity. next, not that a lot of people will be able of flow, so purely your closest acquaintances and relations will be there for you to entertain. The hotels provide each and every of the planning -- and all you should do is take position and function interesting. casual. user-friendly. Romantic and noteworthy. you may want to need to have a reception or party once you get abode, yet you do not ought to. stay remote from Vegas -- it truly is crowded, advertisement, and extreme priced. Makes you experience like you've only had a roll interior the dirt, not a romantic getaway.

Go on a cruise with close friends and family. You can get married onboard ship, or do like my husband and I did 48 years ago, have a garden wedding at a B&B about 100 miles or more from your home town with close friends and family only invited.

Your back yard.
Destination wedding are not only a pain in the ars they are very rude. YOU are suppose to pay for the your guest hotel rooms when you have a destination wedding (they only pay for the flight). I have a friend getting married on an island an it's costing her nothing. If she got soo many people to sign up for the flight/hotel- all of her stuff was free... but it's costing everyone else $1,500 for 3 days. So no one but her family is going... she is finically crippling them and all of her friends think she is a cheap jerk. I think it's very rude to not only make someone travel for your wedding but always have to take peronal time to do it.

Go to the courthouse in your area for a wedding by the justice of the peace. Then use your money to go somewhere nice for a honeymoon.
