I can't tell if I have an oval or round face. But, does it really matter for the type of hair style I want? (I want to have side bangs)

It really doesn't matter for the hair style....Go for a style that you like and makes you feel confident. Or you can always ask your hairdresser!

If you have an oval face you can pretty much go with any hairstyle.

If you have a round face you'll want to avoid hairstyle that give your hair a lot of body (if your hair is short), otherwise it'll look bigger and off balance from the rest of you.

Hair styles should never go past the middle of the area between your head and shoulder, this can make you look out of proportion as well.

It's easier to see what other peole have to say about it. Oval faces are a longer version of round faces. Heart shapes are bigger/wider at the forehead and smaller at the chin and cheeks. Square faces have more angles than curves.

As an example, Jessica Simpson has a square face.

Most celebrities I've seen have heart shaped faces. It really depends. I think side bangs look good on heart, round, and oval shaped faces. Square faces in my opinion don't look good with side bangs.

Well if you have an oval face, you should be able to pull off any hairstyle. However, if you have a round face, you may be more limited in your choices. I'd suggest talking to your hairstylist who can determine exactly what type of face you have and get you the hairstyle that most suits you. Good luck!

Ask someone else what kind of face you have. It's too hard to judge for yourself.
