Please tell me some natural foods which are not rich in iron, but still can be had to keep the haemoglobin count up.

strawberries, guavas, cherries.... almost all red fruits can increase hemoglobin, but you need to check that with a nutritionist.

In thelassemia, you need not take iron and so no special diet as such is needed. Eat whatever is healthy and balance and diet. There is already excess of iron in the body due to i neffective erythropisis. Magnesium is known to prolong the life of RBCs in thalassemia. Check with your physician.

This is an hereditary disease and no food is going to influence the course of this hemolytic anemia.
