That depends on the STD, willingness to use protection (condoms, dental dams, etc.) on a regular basis and whether or not the person is having an outbreak at the time. You can get herpes from skin to skin contact if there are lesions beyond the genital area. You can get herpes from oral/genital contact. A good friend of mine would not have sex with a girl who had herpes and broke up with her even though he really liked her. Most STDs can be passed on to children as they are born and they can cause blindness etc. Really think about what you really really want in your future. They also keep discovering new STDs!!!
Protection is like wearing a raincoat--you can still get wet!! That's why they say abstinence is best!
One more question--how angry would you be if you got it from this person? Angry enough to break up with them or hurt them? If so, don't do it.
PS Kudos to you partner for being honest and open about it.

Let's see. You are asking if sex is worth catching something that could itch, scab, puss up, blister, and possibly kill you? Hmmm, not so much honey. Think about this, if you get it, and you and your partner don't last, then someone else is going to be on here asking the same question about you. You are going to make yourself damaged goods honey anyway you look at it. Although I admit, it was a rather responsible thing for your partner to do in telling you up front. I just wish, that partner didn't put the burden on your shoulders in deciding what to do about it. Sex is great, wonderful and all that stuff, but it's not the end of the world if you don't have it either.

No, its never worth it to have sex with someone that you know has a STD. The partner needs to get that taken care of before you have anything to do with them. And if they didn't get it from you than you have some serious problems.

its just plain stupid to do that.sorry to be blunt but why risk your own health for someone who had been sleepin around and now spreading it to you?
forget about love..this is for your own health and hygiene reasons.
If u cant resist the temptation. wear protective condoms then if you are a guy.
But once again i would stress that by all means drop the idea of having sex with an STD infected person.
Get him/her treated first please. Consult a doctor. The doctor will give your partner a jab and prescribed medications too.
Once he's fully treated and has healed, then its your own choice whether or not you wanna have sex with your partner.
Make a wise choice.

If it is a permanent STD then you should make sure you really want to spend the rest of your life with this person...you should not have sex if they are showing symptoms and you should keep the condom on until you are positive you are ready to have kids...

it depends on what std it is and if you are sure you will be together forever. to love someone you dont have to have sex. you could put a large coat of condoms on and just hope you dont get it, but you should really think about this before you do it.

um, is it worth catching an std - some of which you will have forever, affecting your general health and fertility? And if you catch it and break up, who will want to have sex with you?

Depends on what it is. HIV - No way !!
Herpes - 2/3 of all adults have them anyways, chances are you've already been with somebody that has it. Just don't do it during an outbreak.

It would depend on you. For me no. I don't love anyone enought to risk dying or passing something on to any children I may have.
