i have seen on movies wen some person is

I assume you mean like a brown paper lunch bag... this is for when a person is hyperventilating they blow off too much Carbon Dioxide and this can make their body pH too high and become alkalotic... by breathing into a bag, a person is able to reclaim that carbon dioxide to maintain acid-base balance. Though it may seem silly in all the movies, in real life it actually does serve a purpose.

For people with Anxiety Disorder sometimes have panic attacks.
During a panic attack the person feels like they literally cannot breath and doing this, breathing into a bag is suppose to help refocus their mind on proper breathing methods. It really does help. It can help stop the attack.

those people were breathing too hard...too much oxygen in their blood...shifting the ph in the blood too...which could make u faint. they breathe in the bag to reduce the oxygen level of their blood...since ur breathing in the air u exhaled, there's not as much oxygen in the bag.
