He even had his own sub-category on Yahoo questions and had a ton of you people snowed they he actually cares about the environment. Look at his lifestyle, his holdings, and practices. He’s band-wagon environmentalist globe hopping on his G IV. I don’t think “buying” carbon credits are the answer either. This may be his way of dealing with his guilt but it doesn’t change tons of carbon spewing from his jet, houses, etc. Who of you can really believe this clown? Rally around the people that started this from the grass roots not they guys who have/had holdings in mining companies (sited for dumping toxic waste) and oil companies fined for emissions violations. Is he an example of all Democrats? They all live rich but want us to be poor?

You have rare insight. He is in fact a hypocrite on many levels in addition to his hyperbolic assessment of the contribution of human activity to the current global climate but refusal to adjust his lifestyle to be consistent with those positions, as Al Gore was in his self-serving and distorted representation of his war record (I remember hearing his true beliefs and positions from his own mouth in the early '70s). I respect politicians with whom I may have a philosophical disagreement but who is sincere in that position and consistent in their actions. I do not respect those who are inconsistent in word and deed as self serving and thus unreliable as a source of useful information or guidance on complex issues. I put Presidents Bush and Carter in the former category, and Senators Gore and Kerry in the latter. A careful analysis of most of the accusations of insincerity of the current president can be found rooted in the biased rhetoric of the Democratic party which is passed along unfiltered by the markedly liberally slanted media.

He is living like a capitalist. People are rich and live rich. People are poor and live poor. There is nothing wrong with some people having more than others. Same with carbon and what not. The only question a capitalist will ask is how can I get more? Unless you live in Cuba or some utopian society. You don't care about equality because equally poor is still poor. If you think you are poor now, think of what poor means in sub-Sahara Africa and what middle-class means there. If really want equality, then the only practical way to acomplish that is to give up your rights to the government and let them to decide how much you get. This is why I vote for Republicans over Democrats. That being said, Bush is a horible Republican and I'm glad his lame term is ending for good.

If you're suggesting that Al Gore walk between presentations in city on opposite sidse of the country (or the world) in order to prevent the contribution of greenhouse gases and pollution from his jet, you're being a little ridiculous. Is anyone claiming that Al Gore is the perfect environmentalist? I don't think so, especially not him. He still has a carbon "footprint" just like the rest of us. And he's not suggesting we all walk to work, heat our homes through shared body heat and eat nothing but home-grown vegetables or anything, only that as concerned consumers and world citizens that we try to do our part to MINIMIZE our contribution to global warming, to whatever extent is feasible and doesn't prevent us from seeking happiness. So recycle. Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Buy a more fuel efficient car, or at least get your current car tuned up so it runs more efficiently. Try to buy more locally produced products to reduce the energy it takes to get your food to the market. Simple things add up to big impacts.
Al Gore is not a hypocrite; he is doing what he has to do to call attention to a subject that not enough people take seriously. Rather than complaining about how much CO2 he produces in a year, focus rather on your own habits. The reason people DON'T "rally around the people that started this from the grass roots" is that Joe Average Citizen has no idea who these people are -- they aren't visible, they aren't vocal enough or widely enough heard to make any difference on a national or global scale.

Democrats and Republicans are the same. They close their minds on opposite sides. Look at John Kerry, I do not think he is real. He tries to be for the poor people of this country, but his wife is loaded. Ask him to give up that lifestyle. Politicians do not care, no matter which party they are. Al Gore and even some celebrities are hypocrites. They tell us what to do, so they can continue their ways of life.

Just your average American politician.
He was on the board of directors of Cripplecreek Coal when the largest toxic freshwater spill happened in the history of the US.
It was bigger than the Exon-Valdeez. Did you ever hear about it or understand the severity of it?
I thought not.
I have traveled around the globe and I believe Americans are the most politically naive people in the western world. At least the older people.

First off about politicians:
From Robert Heinlein's The Notebooks of Lazarus Long
politic - poli from the Greek poly meaning many
and tic meaning blood sucking parasite.
And how can anyone talk bad about the man [Al Gore] who created this wonderful thing called the Internet? Come on, he even said he invented it. Don't you believe him??

No your the ultimate hypocrite and Biggot. Al Gore has educated more people than ever about Global Warming now. But don't worry people still don't care about doing anything unless they are to be called a sandle wearing tree hugger.

How about how he told his father to sell off their tobacco company AFTER his sister died of lung cancer, and came out of the situation proclaiming he was a hero?
Now he uses that story to prove how companies hate us all personally and we need to stop what they do before we all [figuratively] die of cancer? Oh....except for the companies Mr. Gore has stock in, those ones are just fine....

Aha! You have seen through him. There are many examples of his hypocracy, like telling tobacco farmers he was one of them even though he grew up in a hotel in Washington, D.C. and attended private schools. The man is delusional. Unfortunatly, he is an example of a person with apparent good intentions who can do great harm.

I will tell you when I have finished reading his book called An Inconvenient Truth. I am half way through this and it makes interesting reading so far, perhaps I am a bit naive, but I don't know enough about American politics, to generalise.
