I have a small dog who is paper trained. I live in an upstairs apartment, and can't always get her outside. She also had night time accidents...regardless of whether she was walked or not.

These puppy training pads worked wonders immidiatly. For the first few days, when i was gone...I locked her in the bathroom with the pad. Then after that, she just knew to pee there and has never had an accident since then. I guess they have a scent that makes dogs want to pee on them.

It's a little gross to clean up...but tons better than a carpet cleaning service. Of course...your dog can still go outside too...this just prevents accidents.

What you need to do is going to require some effort on your part, but it works.

It sounds like he's just gotten in a bad habit and you have to stop it. What you do is keep him in the same room you're in so he's not out of your sight. After hard playing, after a nap, after a big drink or if he's just acting like he has to go, take him outside fast. You need to go out with him and the split second he pees, give him lots and lots of praise and come right back in. (He's learning that this is the time to go to the bathroom, it's not play time.)

Just keep on doing this for a few days and I bet your problem will be solved. The idea is to reward for right behaviour and not have to correct him. Good luck.

If you have a basement or another room he can be in put newspaper down everywhere. 30-45 minutes take him to this room and make sure he uses it here. After a while he'll get the idea that this is where he should go. Or if you want to take him outside do the same thing take him out 30-45 minutes after he drinks or eats.

if he won't stop even with frequent outings, its probably a bad habit. you have to catch him znd then startle him enough to stop and then take him outside. if that doesn't work, they have things called Belly Bands. Its a male diaper. you can get them at most petstores or if you are handy, you can sew some yourself!

Some animals simply will not learn. Rub their noses in it and taking them out immediately will sometimes, eventually work.

hang a bird bell from the door that you will let him out at and ring it each time you take him out to go to the bathroom, soon he will ring it himself by hitting it with is nose and that will tell you he has to go:-)
