bregweidd asked an interesting question about why we might contemplate the existence of additional physical dimensions (e.g. 10 or 11 as postulated by some kinds of theoretical physics) but not a spiritual or supernatural realm.

Extra physical dimensions would be fascinating but would essentially be 'more of the same' - i.e. just another part of the natural, physical, material world that we haven't yet discovered... but, when people talk about something spiritual or supernatural, they seem to mean something with intelligence, with intention, with will - Something that can choose to interfere with the physical world if it so wishes. Is there anything else to this 'realm' - Do people imagine that 'the supernatural' or 'the spiritual' is a whole other kind of world in which entities live, or is it just the entities themselves?

It seems to me to be saying "If I don't understand X then I'll propose that something intelligent is behind it" - i.e. an alternative to finding real answers

good point - when most speak of a spiritual realm, it is with the assumption that there is something or somebody there, which is different than additional dimensions

of course, I guess it could be argued that there is a spiritual realm that has to do with our "souls" (whatever they are) and nothing or nobody else.

you killed my analogy, DAM IT! :-)

guess it always just comes down to this - some believe in the spiritual because they have experienced it, others don't. I just don't understand people who say "there is no spiritual world or beings" - how can they know for sure? I certainly admit the fact that I might be completely wrong, that's part of learning.

I believe there very well may be other realms of existence. Yes, I think it is folly for people to always assume it is "intelligent" or even purposely chooses to interfere, etc.
I think there may be parallel universes, an idea that many astronomers don't exactly shun.

But when you start to think about how universes exist inside other universes, something which is a fact we know to be true, it starts to make sense. We know now that there is a world previously unseen of floating particles, microbes, molecules.

What if you just kept shrinking? You didn't disappear completely, nor die, you just kept shrinking until you were smaller than an atom, and then kept getting even smaller. You are in another dimension, another "universe" and certainly another realm of reality.
Have you ever read "DMT- the spirit molecule"? IT's very good.
Who knows what other worlds we coexist with beyond our usual conscious perception.

I really don't know that anything other than a realm with intelligent entities is what they are referring to, unless by your statement you are implying that in your opinion they are unintelligent for their conclusion that such realms could exist.
Also because it "seems to you" they are saying they don't understand X is conjecture on your part. Could it not be that their understanding of X has led them to the best possible answer being the evidence (not proof) for a transcendent intelligence?
The proof of this not being a "real" answer has not been established. Only what constitutes as "real" using your criteria.
As far as the realm of a spiritual demension is concerned you might understand the Greek Philosophers idea of the dualism they taught of man being body and soul, representing the physical and non-physiological nature of entities. In Eastern philosophy and western Judeo/christian philosohy man is seen as tripartite in nature being body, soul and spirit. For a really good understanding of the metaphysical breakdown of this subject I would recommend THE SPIRITUAL MAN by Watchman Nee.
