How do you people do it? The ones who take their dog out EVERY day and go walking.... Don't you get bored? xP I've been taking my 2 dogs out every day. I walk them for 30 mins in the mornings, and 30 mins in the evenings. And often times, I'll hook them up to a couple of runners and let them play and wear themselves out, but I'm getting bored with the walks. And there's no one to walk with me... It's just sort of lonely and boring.... And I can't /talk/ to the dogs and have a conversation with them. They're not people... XD So, anyone have any tips on how to make it a bit more interesting? Or anything else I can do that's fun to get my dogs some exercise? =P What do /you/ do while walking your dog?

We walk our dogs twice a day--I do it in the evenings and my husband does it in the mornings. You're right, it's not all that exciting.

I sometimes change the route I take. There's lots of different places to go and things to see for me because we live in a city. But even if you're in the suburbs or country you can try a new route and it might make things more interesting for a while.

You can also take your iPod or walkman and listen to some music.

Maybe also look into some training methods. If you can intersperse your walk with training it might make it more interesting for both you and your dogs. Sometimes I stop about half way through the walk and do some training (basic obedience and a few tricks). It's good for them too because it helps them learn obedience even when we're not at home or there are distractions.

I also have to admit: I talk to my dogs. I know they can't really answer, but they also can't talk back!

I walk my dog twice a day every day. We don't always go to the same places. Sometimes we go to the park, sometimes we go bike riding, sometimes jogging. When we get to the park there is a pond and my dog likes to hunt for frogs (ugh) in the water. If you are getting bored, your dogs probably are too and might enjoy a change up once in a while.

Is there a beach or park near you? If there is, you could bring them down there and throw a ball or a frisbee or something - that's what I do when I walk my neighbours' dog, and it's pretty fun! Or if you like running, then just take them out and you can jog along - bring an MP3 player or CD walkman. You can sing along in your head (or if your confidence is higher than mine, out loud!!!) and if you have some of your favourite songs, time might pass a lot quicker.

When I get tired of walking the dog I try to switch myself from thinking "This is a chore I'm doing for the dog" to "this is something I'm doing for myself -- getting some healthy exercise and burning a bunch of calories". It seems to work for me, but maybe you don't have to watch your weight.

When you go walking bring along a toy. I would suggest a freebie though. Let them play with it and you can play with them. Run with them some times. See what your dogs are interested in. Try them with different toys.

sounds to me like your doing good so far. however dogs are very social animals they need to be around others exp/ more dogs people. so take them to a park or a dog run if any are close to you . also bring some toys and treats along .

Well, when I walk my dog, i like to listen to music. And just because your dogs can't talk back doesn't mean you can't talk to them! lol
hope this helped you
