I have a beautiful Jack Russell named Pip. She used to throw up every car ride. I did some research and discovered she was not doing it because of motion sickness. Jack russells tend to be nervous and suffer from separation anxiety. They are afraid of you taking them somewhere and leaving them. I got her over it by taking her everywhere with me, starting with short car rides and then returing home. When in the car and when we got home I would praise her and give her treats. She now loves going in the car and hasn't puked in over 2 years. Hope this helps.

Your puppy has motion sickness, something that's not uncommon.

There's a couple of things you might try. Take her for very SHORT rides, maybe to a park and take her for a little run, then straight back home. She'll start to associate the car and rides with fun things. Also, don't give her anything to eat or drink shortly before you go.

A lot of dogs are better in the car if they can see where they're going, so let her look out the window, facing forward if possible.

Hope this helps.

I actually have a similar concern with my Yellow Labrador 40 lbs. I supply her a million/2 pill of ginger rootbout(approximately 250mg) one 0.5 to an hour earlier departure and it works each time. The vet recommend attempting Bonine or Meclizine for action disease. I even have had some success with a million/2 pill of Dramamine. None of those measures had any part-outcomes.

Some dogs just cannot handle riding in cars. One thing you can do is to make sure she has not eaten within 2 hours before you take her somewhere. She is less likely to throw up then. Or you can get some dramamine tablets and give her half of one just before you start on your trip. We have used it with our chihuahuas. The third option is to not take her on any rides unless she has to go to the vets. I know you want her to be with you, but car rides are just not her thing. She does nopt enjoy them if she gets sick every time.

Some dogs can't take riding in a car. My dog does that some times. Make sure she doesn't eat or drink anything prior before getting in the car. That could be a problem.

A lot of puppies have this problem, it will get better. Take her in the car as much as possible. A good long road trip may help, it has for mine in the past.

Perhaps she has motion sickness. Whenever I take my cat out for drives, she meows uncontrollably and comes very close to me during the entire trip. You might want to consider taking her to the vet just to make sure shes okay.

Over-excitement... My shepherd can be that way... Also, possible carsickness... Go to www.jefferspet.com and look at the herbal calmers they sell; that plus making sure car-rides are no big deal and not excitement time should cure the first... They may sell something for motion-sickness too, I haven't checked...

motion sickness its very normal with small breeds where ever you put your dog put a plastic tarp under her so if she does it will go on the plastic tarp after a while she will get us to the car and stop, if not ask a vet.
