If they were to acknowledge that they were illegals, they couldn’t justify slaughtering millions of Native Americans for being on “their property”. They would also have to acknowledge that they raped and enslaved African Americans illegally. They would have to admit that they stole California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Texas from Mexico. They would have to face the fact that they have been a white Supremest nation from its inception. So by ignoring this little piece of information they can deny human rights to others seeking the pursuit of happiness.

honestly... this thread is laughable at times...
bigot europeans flaunting their wannabe superiority with their "we have higher literacy rates" hello dumbass, the average country in europe has about 12 million people, the US has 300,000,000 that's THREE HUNDRED ******* MILLION, that in itself makes it harder to have higher literacy rates.
Second, let's not get into what the pilgrims did with the indians and what treaties they broke etc, those people were 400, 300, and 200 years ago, you can't hold the people of the present responsible for what those in the past did, if that were so, I could easily call all French Imperialists, all Germans bigot nazis, and the British... well, let's not even get into them, but I don't, because people who live in those countries today had nothing to do with the decisions made by their ancestors.
Seriously, the ideas some of you concoct in your little brains just to try and make yourself feel better because only YOU think that the US is better than whatever country you're from. I mean, if you didn't, you wouldn't be so threatened to have to go on some random internet forum and flaunt your anti-americanism like it was a new fad... you only do it because you can't stand the fact the country you're from isn't the one that's in the USs position, which isn't a very good one might I add.
US literacy rates are pretty high for a country its size, and coming on here and blaming everything on the US is pretty much taking the easy way out. why don't you sit back and think of where europe would be if the US hadn't been around... you'd be sitting under the iron curtain of communism, or placed into forced slavery by imperial japan... so bug off with that **** already because you're the only ones thinking that by critizing the US you're somehow making your own nation bigger and that's not the cause, you're just counterproductive towards what you should be wanting
if you wanna stop the US from being a bully, then work your opposition with them and compromise... it's what Japan does, because all you're doing now is fruitless and changes nothing... instead, you're picking and choosing the few things you got over the US as a whole, which when analyzed thoroughly, aren't even THAT significant.
Rant over

Immigration Laws came into place in 1924. This is when visa's were required. Anyone that says their relative came here "legally" crossed Ellis Island, signed their name on a book and like magic, they were legal! No finger prints, no back ground checks no money required just walk from their ship/boat to land. It was when the Irish were really disliked, like people from Mexico now, is when Visa process was initiated! There have been many hatreds of different ethnic backgrounds since this nation was established. History shows Italians were very much disliked as well. Now it's the Mexicans turn.
If anyone remembers their history/civics/government from high school they would know this.

Their was no government back then, or immigration laws I no my countries history, I no about the Indians, and slavery, all Nations have immigration laws even Mexico, my ancestors worked dam hard to build this country and it's not going to be taken over by a bunch of illegals from all over the world. If your an immigrant come legally, no problem. We didn't steel any land from Mexico they signed the treaty and we paid them also. That argument has been beat to death on this forum, this is the United States now so stop trying to justify breaking the law. We haven't forgotten anything about this country. My ancestors fought in the revolution so my roots go deep in this country. So we don't need any help from uneducated illegal Mexicans or anyone else that is illegal.
PS...you also have to remember it didn't belong to the Spaniards or to the Mexicans either they also stoled the land from the Indians.

Why do you pro-open borders people always say that the first non-native people which came to this land were illegal when there were no established immigration laws?
Why do you pro-open borders people always fail to recognize the fact that each and every industrialized, civilized country on Earth has gone through periods of invasion throughout recorded history, and that it doesn't matter whether or not you feel as if you have personally been cheated out of your land. This land belongs to the United States of America and her legal citizens. Get over it already. If we were to realign the countries of the world according to your twisted logic, the majority of the civilized world would belong to the descendents of Romans, i.e.; the Italians, including the vast majority of the European countries.
The ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Because they did. They came through Ellis Island. They were checked out medically, given shots, the whole nine yards. This question has been asked and answered a thousand times. Read some history. Look up Ellis Island.

i shouldn't have to defend my ancestors because in no way am i accountable for their actions. i didn't choose where i was born, but i obey the laws of my country, why should it be different for anyone else. if someone from a different country wants to come over here they should do it legally. why should i have to follow a different set of laws than an illegal immigrant? for those who do come to my country legally "Welcome" and for those who didn't "Go home and try it the legal way."

The reason is simple: Americans are among the most poorly educated people in the industrialized world. The rate of illiteracy is vastly higher than in any country in Europe. Also, much of that education is still racially biased. Americans would rather cherish their propaganda than acknowledge the truth about their nation.

Because many of our ancestors did come here legally! Mine were registered through Ellis Island and gained citizenship legally.
The descendants of the Pilgrims were here legally also...
