Awwww! Your little kitten doesn't have a mummy! It's looking for milk. They suckle at their mother when they want milk, but obviously you don't have any cat milk! The next best thing is evaporated milk mixed with a little bit of water. If you put it in a small bottle or even on your arms your kitty will really appreciate it and if you gradually transfer it to a bowl your kitty will stop suckling. Don't worry though, the fact that your kitten is suckling just means that it is comforted by you and thinks you're it's mother. Sweet huh? Hope I helped!

Hi Jason...kittens sometimes suckle if they were weaned too young. It's perfectly normal and most grow out of this phase eventually. To disuade it from continuing offer the kitten a small food treat (not evaporated milk or any milk for human consumption--this isn't good for felines). If you'd like to offer it milk, most petstores sell milk just made specifically for cats. The goal is to distract the kitten with something else like a food treat or a fun toy. Have a little patience...the kitten will grow out of this stage.

Your kitten was taken away from his mum too early.

I had a cat that did this and he did not grow out of it. I didn't mind though, when he was older he would only do it once each evening.

He later died when someone put poison out in our area. I miss him and his suckling.

If it bothers you, just gently push him off, that is what the mother cat would have done, if you repeatedly do this he will probably stop.

Aww, it thinks it's people. The kitten will grow out of it but for the time being, just push it away. Don't go rubbing anything onto your arms to deter it, you might make it ill.

The kitten is just letting you know how safe he/she feels with you! You'll miss it when it doesn't happen anymore. It's a compliment!

That is the sweetest thing!
Lift him/her up to your ear and he/she will probably suckle on your ear lobe too!

yes i have a cat that STILL does this, its 14....it's something to do with being taken from it's mum too early and it's attention seeking, just looking for a bit of loving and cuddles, nothing wrong with that!...The problem with mine is when it starts sticking it's nails into you too....i just put a blanket on my knee so i can't feel them.

The poor wee thing was obviously taken from his Mother to young, there is nothing you can do, but be patient with the wee thing.
